Does transferring Registars also transfer DNS or do you have to readd the DNS Nameservers and have downtime while they're updated???

JSpired 08-09-2002, 04:53 AM Everything generally transfers "as is," meaning as long as your nameservers aren't changing, you really shouldn't notice any downtime at all. RandyL712 08-09-2002, 03:36 PM In a perfect world, yes. But unfortunately any change CAN result in a DNS messup, causing a delay of 12-75 hours before DNS resolves correctly again :( JSpired 08-09-2002, 03:46 PM True, any change can result in a problem. From my experience though, it's very rare.. We've transferred many a client and our own site without a single issue. Maybe I'm just lucky? TimPD 08-09-2002, 04:30 PM I talked to Enom and they said that there will no downtime as it doesn't bother the DNS entries.... :). JSpired 08-09-2002, 04:32 PM I think you'll be fine, Tim. We use Enom as well, and have never had an issue. Good luck! ;) TimPD 08-10-2002, 01:17 PM Thanks. I love eNom :) |
