I've just installed a new monitor here. The old was dying rather badly (kinks in vertical lines - getting blurry etc). Now I was a bigger crystal clear new one that's breathtaking to look at. The only problem is it's a flat screen CRT.
I know it's flat, and I know the lines I'm looking at are straight, but my brain still thinks it's looking at the old curved screen. As a result the screen 'seems' concave and the windows 'seem' to bow outwards in the middle. The whole effect is slightly stomach churning and I've now got a slight case of what feels like motion sickness.
Hopefully my brain re-educates itself soon :)

Im still adapting to my new mouse. It doesn't seem to want to die. It keeps squirming.

Yeah - I've had that problem with flat screens - especially with flat screen TVs.
The problem is the screens are almost too flat, they can almost appear to curve inward... psychological problem.
It goes away eventually, and then when you see a standard CRT display you think it's horribly round :D

I just went through this last month myself. Take a little Dramamine and wait for your brain to catch up with your eyes. It does get better. ;)

Hehe, my monitor has had this red glare over it for two years. When I whack it, it turns back to normal for a little while, but after months of whacking I gave that up and simply got used to it.
Now I get all confused when sitting behind a good screen...

You'll get used to it, and once you do, standard monitors will look like bubbles.
It's all in your head, I assure you. ;)
Have somebody else sit in front of your screen and judge for themselves....

My 2 other monitors (the ones attached to my P166 and my 486, my Unix test base :)) all seem old compared to my 19" Dell monitor. Well, yeah they are old, but it's magnified by the curvature of both screens. Luckily I can't really tell the difference when they're on because they don't run X very often.

well after a full night of copy/pasting content for a site I'm doing (about 200 pages of the stuff), my brain worked itself out.
Eyes and stomach both report as running at optimum levels. :)
