I am designing a website for a client that is selling adult games and adult books. He is worried about finding a merchant account that will not take his money etc.. Also he is worried and wondering about chargebacks. What are normal chargeback rates for adult websites? What are some good credit card processors? What rates do proccesors start dropping you?
The company is based out of Seychelles. Hosting will be done overseas as well. You all know any relible overseas webhosters that handle adult content as well? Thanks
I havent done a website like this, but it is for a client's friend and he is paying triple my normal rate.
Thanks!

Hi Chuck, love your movies :)
Adult games, adult books, try CCBILL!
You may want to look at ynot.com as well for an idea of other processors.

Yes, go with CCBILL or EPOCH Systems, both companies are specialized in Adult.
They might be a bit expansive but for a startup Adult website it is almost the only option you have.

If they are in the US they should be able to get a regular merchant account assuming they have good credit. Tangible adult products are generally not considered high risk and as such most processors will readily establish accounts for them.

Not so - adult material will not be accepted by any Merchant except those that are dealing with banks outside the USA.
The Banks have a coding system where business types are grouped.
It's not the merchant that will not accept the type of product you are selling.
The banks are blocking it!
Which banks - all of them in the USA to the best of my knowledge.
And if you violate the terms you are dropped and blacklisted.
Should that happen you can not get another Merchant account.
Best to call them to verify what is acceptable.

Actually, like I said above, many US merchant account providers will establish merchant accounts for tangible products of an adult nature. The key is it has to be a tangible product.

I don't believe it is tangible. From the read of his first post, it looks like he will be selling porn memberships or something of that sort. I don't think a physical product is involved, and this will make it difficult to find a processor.

You might check out the electronic payment gateway 2000Charge.com. Their is a good convention called Internext (unfortunately usually around the CES time so the hotel rates are a bit more expensive) and there is usually one in Florida towards the end of summer.
There are also a few other message boards that are more specific to this nature. If you are going to be doing a lot of business, a merchant account will sometimes be better in the long run.
If it is just electronic (memberships) and it is Flash games e-books, then consider CCBill to help manage your memberships. And you might have a few mainstream processors take a look at the site. Depending on what you are selling, they might even be able to support you. 2000Charge would be good with that as well and might be able to recommend a few processors depending on your estimated volume
