View Full Version : Fastest Domain Transfer ever!
Mikey this way! 12-26-2007, 09:16 AM Hello,
I recently initiated a Domain Transfer request from GoDaddy to my RC A/c.
Immediately after I initiated it I received a Transfer Authorisation Email which I duely authorised.
After that, I received an email from Godaddy saying that I have requested an Domain Transfer and I have to do nothing if it is right and so on.
I however, went to the Godaddy Control Panel and under Pending Transfers Approved this transfer.
Within a few hours I received an email from Godaddy saying that the domain has been successfully transferred over to the new registrar.
Now, all this happened in just a couple of hours.
Till date, I've transferred domains among different registrars but, none have been so fast. It always takes 3-5 days.
Now is really cool. I don't see why other Registrars haven't implemented this.
Anybody else experienced this?
Thanks. Happy Holidays!
uberhostNET 12-26-2007, 10:32 AM I've never had it happen quite that fast. It's good to know that people can get away from GoDaddy with ease though! :roll2:

LOL
I knew someone would come up with that. Personally I've never had any problems with Godaddy though.
Anyways, I hope other Registrars also add this type of option. I hate to wait 3-5 days for the transfers to take place.
In today's instant world there is no need to wait for Domain Transfers.
GoDaddy are excellent in that respect. As you've experienced. They transfer takes a matter of hours only. I think my personal record is under 1 hour.

I'm glad to hear that, mate. :agree:
My experiences with GoDaddy were a long time ago, and it's good to hear that they are serving you well. I was just making a crack, so no offense to any GD customers meant. :)

Yeah I know. No issues.
Personally, I like the spirit with which people hate GD. :D

That thread only confirms that you can transfer domains away from GoDaddy in under an hour.

Eh? I though you liked MyDomain?

Yes, that's actually my point.
Mikey this way! 12-26-2007, 11:20 PM LOL :D
No probs. Getting the domain transferred in a couple of hours was a dream come true to me.
Is it only Godaddy that is so fast or are there others? I've not seen this happen with Namecheap or RC either. Only Godaddy.
Aorozco 12-26-2007, 11:27 PM Yes, i LIKE mydomain , but have a domain stucked by them. The problem is Netfirms give quickly, mydomain get and the say is in netfirms hands. By the way, i am moving now mydomain to moniker ( nets ) and renewing not important domains in name.com or stargate.com

Yes. Tucows, for instance, still renders transfer (AWAY) ACK, which basically eliminates that 5-day wait. Many registrars these days don't do that any more though; what a shame.

Yeah.
I wish they all start doing it. It's a waste of time to wait 5 days for a domain transfer.
Instant it should be.
Techno 12-27-2007, 11:25 AM It's scary that someone can now steal and move your domain over lunch. The wait period does give some security.
Aorozco 12-27-2007, 11:36 AM This problem was discarded is the domain is locked. If you not lock, is problem of you.

Whilst true. Certain conditions have to be met. Access to your account and domain's email is required. If it's a fraudulent transfer, you can still ask GoDaddy to recall the domain (although it's always hard to convince any registrar that the transfer is fraudulent if the thief has access to your account. And, all registrars are reluctant to file for a recall, since it costs them money. So. Much resistance from the registrar to do so).
Mikey this way! 12-27-2007, 03:02 PM You have a point but, if your basics are right the faster transfer can be of great utility.
Stu: I din't know that Registries could recall trasnferred away domains. Thanks for telling us. ;)
Techno 12-27-2007, 03:40 PM The weakest link in administering domains appears to be your email account and keeping it secure. If someone gets into your email they get access to all your domain accounts and passwords. Free email providers may be the least secure as they are the larger hack targets and you don't have any contract for continued or reliable access.

I don't think the wait period has anything to do with security to start with. And if a fraudulent transfer request does go through (e.g. email being compromised), even a 30-day wait period could not help, because most people probably wouldn't notice anything until it's too late. Moreover, if one's email is hacked, I guess he will have more important stuff to attend to other than his domains (unless it's something like sex.com).

Me too. It was the first time.
I don't get it why other Registries don't do it that quick. :(
TmzHosting | Matthew 12-31-2007, 07:26 AM Godaddy transferred my domains in record time.
