I am using Ikonboard right now on my site, but my provider doesn't allow CGI anymore, so I have to switch to a new board (Ikonboard uses CGI). I think Invisionboard and phpBB are both great boards, but can someone tell me which one I should choose.

I prefer:
- speed
- good convertion from IB -> new board
- stability

I'd love to see reactions from current Invisionboard/phpBB users.

I think both are about dead even as far as stability and speed. However seeing as IBF and iB were both made by the same person I would thing IBF would convert easier. Does phpBB even have a full working converter for iB, yet?

ibf is newer but otherwise phpbb has some more support... i dont know i reccomend vbulletin if your running large forum's look into ultimate bulliten board as well. there all commonly used everyone has a different opinion.

i've used both.. i like them both the same.. i'm using invision board at the moment though, because the admin panel is a lot better.. there are more options and such.

I think Ultimate Bulliten Board is cgi.

I think Matt, the guy who created IB & IB, is on this board with the username of... InvisionMatt.

i like wBB... you can make it = vbulletin with some good templates... its a really good vB clone... i seen a lot of wBB sites and thought they were vB until i saw the copyright...

I also would recommend IBF!! It's great. ;)

Where can I download wBB from? I tried a search on Google and it brought up something about Bangledesh. :) Tried typing in: www.wbb.com and got nothing. Can someone give me a link?

Just a note, www.wbbhacks.com is a great site for mods/add-ons etc for wBB. There are lots of knowledgable people there if you get stuck! It's also a good example of how good a wBB can be :)

I tried both Phpbb & IBF and went with IBF because it has more skinning control and admin options. Some think that IBF is harder to skin (I don't) but it is made up for by faster load times & less system resources. IBF 1.1 should be out in September with improved skinning options.

BTW: www.bbadmins.com is new forum for, um, BB Admins. Most of the posters seem to be Vbulletin users.
