View Full Version : Logo Design Solution Required
RouteHost 08-08-2002, 07:41 AM Hi There!
I am starting RouteHost soon but I have just bought a new server with ensim installed.
I was wondering if anyone would be able to design a logo for my company in exchange for 1 year of free hosting.
I am sure this following specifications to your hosting account will be of interest to you.
- 500 MB Webspace
- Unlimited Bandwidth (If you think why we can offer you unlimited hosting reason being in Singapore, our internet providers do not limit the amount of traffic instead they limit the speed of the bandwidth. Currently our servers are connected to 4 providers with an average of 1Mbps currently shared within 3 servers only.)
- Unlimited POP3 Email Accounts
- Unlimited POP3 Email Forwarding Accounts
- CGI/Perl/PHP Access
- 1 MySQL Database
- Anonymous FTP
I have just registered the domain name therefore the domain name is not up yet but you may wish to do a traceroute or pings to 210.193.6.43
Best Regards!
mike01 08-08-2002, 09:49 AM I will do it if you will host my forums for 2 years, i will only need 50 megs... and a little help setting the up,,

ddesigns 08-08-2002, 09:51 AM You need to offer alittle more than 1 mySQL db. What if I have a forum that needs a db and then my own db for my site?
dancies 08-08-2002, 12:46 PM I was bored, had a few minutes and don't need hosting. This one's yours for free (if you want it).
tzdesigner 08-08-2002, 12:48 PM nice logo dancies :)

OneOfThem 08-08-2002, 07:26 PM dancies,
Good job on the logo, but why would you give it away  That's part of the problem around here! Folks giving stuff away or charging very little for services!
What you're saying when your give something away is that it is worthless and by extension it devalues the work of those of us who depend on providing services for our livelihood. Can't you see that you didn't just give a logo to RouteHost, you deprived someone of a job  Perhaps you have too much money and time on your hands, but not everyone is in that boat.

Now this is another thing that get's my goat. RouteHost, if the speed is limited (and it must be since there is no such thing as infinite transmission speed) then the bandwidth is limited because there is no such thing as an infinitely long month!:dunce:
Now you're probably going to go and advertise unlimited plans and you'll attract customers. The sad thing is that niether they, nor you seem to know that much about how the industry really works and that just makes my life harder 'cause I'm going to tell them the truth and charge them a reasonable rate.
Unlimited... no such thing. How many times does it have to be said?

OneOfThem 08-08-2002, 08:22 PM timechange,
Maybe dancies would like to work for me for free? Would ya dancies? I could use the help
;)
RouteHost 08-08-2002, 09:03 PM The logo design contest is still going on... i do not mind having to meet your requirements as long as you design the site as well in exchange for hosting services.
The more the merrier... well, i have plenty of space on my server, so i thought of before starting my business, thought of having some traffic into my servers.
Dancies.. your logo is cool... maybe you would like doing a couple more?
For now, I too need a web design...
Acroplex 08-08-2002, 09:09 PM Funny, no route to RouteHost :D
jhcashman 08-09-2002, 09:24 AM so u want a website with the logo? in exchange for hosting???
OneOfThem 08-09-2002, 09:31 AM Hmm,
A website's worth 3500+ (I wouldn't do one for less). Must be great hosting!
;)
mike01 08-09-2002, 09:50 AM umm... why is this thread still going? route.. i thought i had the job?
OneOfThem 08-09-2002, 09:59 AM Mike,
You're going to give him a web design and logo design for hosting? It doesn't seem like he even knows much about hosting; "unlimited bandwith" etc. and what does this mean?
Currently our servers are connected to 4 providers with an average of 1Mbps currently shared within 3 servers only
What are these Signapore servers on? a few T1's.
Web hosting for a year can cost you less than $120 for a small plan. A website and logo are worth far more than that.
Mike, you're in Toronto right (well the picture on your site looks like Toronto)?
RouteHost 08-09-2002, 09:59 AM I am grateful for all of your help.
As for the solutions, thank you. I have found a great source from Web Hosting Talk.
Once again I would like to thank everyone who has put in time to design a logo and a website for us.
We would be having future offerings like this one in the future as we do have a couple other sites we do plan to develop like our dedicated hosting company in the next few months.
Stay tuned!

Yeah - I'll admit I actually thought of this after I posted the logo. Since I too enjoy submit designs to the monetary contests on here, I can see where giving something away for free devalues or deprives someone else. On the other hand, I enjoy doing designs - even if just for the fun of it. This design took me about 5 minutes (the metaphor just poped into my head without much trying) and once I had finished it it seemed a shame to just let it sit around on my harddrive. Had this been a cash contest I would have entered, but since it wasn't and I don't need hosting I figured what the heck. Think of it as I'm entering the contest and if I win I'll take the hosting that was offered and just not use it...
Sorry to have offended people :(
Dave
