I don't know what has happened, but yahoo has taken over my browser. Anytime I type in a url incorrectly, or try to go to a domain that does not exist, I am redirected to the yahoo search. IE never used to do this before, and nothing has changed recently.
Anyone have any ideas on what might have happened?

:) If you type http:// in front, the yahoo thing won't come up, it'll just return the standard ie error. w/o the http:// ie will do an autosearch (look at status bar) and it'll go to yahoo. annoying isnt it?? :)
It sounds like a spyware...

Try this:
On your Internet Explorer toolbar click 'Search'
Change Preferences > Change Internet Search Behaviour.
'Rover' should give you a list of search engines to pick from. Pick Google and you're done. :) No more Yahoo

Doh google isn't listed :(
I am running IE 6. Maybe its a little different because the options you listed were not there, although I did find where to change the search engine used.

Are you on XP?
If not, I know there's a registry hack to change the default search engine in earlier versions.

Ugh. Everyone wants a piece of the pie and will aggressively go for it. I reformat my home PC every 6-8 months simply because of the spyware that wiggles itself into useful software. "Updates" my Windows libraries to be perfectly compatible with it and nothing else.

To get rid of the deafult search, you have to edit the registry.
Now all I have to do is type something.com (without the http) and it goes there.
When I forget I am not online, and type mysite.com, it automatically opens mysite.com folder on my PC. Odd, but not bothersome.
