View Full Version : looking for a $35 (or more) yearly hosting
marinkog 08-08-2002, 02:23 AM Hi all!
I'm new to this,
so I went thru lots of posts on this forum to find a good host,
and I thougt this one is a good offer
http://www.worldwebhosters.com/hosting.html and I
choosed Economy yearly price of $35 but when I started reading
Terms of Service it says no Copyrighted Mp3's(its just for a friend I don't think to start a warez site), so does that mean if I put a mp3 for friend on my web site my "account will be terminated without notice and you will forfeit all of the monies that have been paid to WorldWebHosters.com" or even worse been charged a $500 service fee?
is there anything better then this out there or that's the way it is??
thanx
marinkog 08-08-2002, 09:19 AM anyone?
Reptilian Feline 08-08-2002, 09:22 AM Does your friend have copyright for the mp3s? Is it his own music? If so, I think it would be enough with a written statement from your friend. Ask the host.
MP2100 08-08-2002, 10:24 AM Check out Dixiesys.com
So far I am pleased with them
marinkog 08-08-2002, 03:20 PM Thanx guys for replies,
do they allow mp3's on Dixiesys.com
jhcashman 08-08-2002, 04:11 PM i don't think any "crediable" hosts will let u upload MP3 and start a website with MP3s or trade them. However I also think that if u just upload a mp3 and have ur friend downloaded it and then delete it, it won't be a problem... however i have this feeling that u are trying to start a mp3 trading thing....which is bad....:uzi: y else would u be looking through the terms... and y don't u just put i on a zip disk or cdrw and give it to your friend? or tell him to dl it off Kazza. Or just let him borrow the cd and tell him to convert to mp3 by himself....somethign feels fishy here.... just my 2 cent....
dwhsnet 08-08-2002, 04:51 PM Hello,
You shouldn't worry about.
If you have friends who put their music on mp3 you can trade it all day long. No host should ever penalize you for that.
Look at mp3.com they have thousands of mp3 that people download and upload daily.
It's simple all mp3 have to approved by you before you post them.
Do a search for the band to see if they have a label if not then your fine and if you know the person don't think twice about.
I know very credible hosting companies with thousands of customers that would love to have you as a customer.
Good luck
marinkog 08-08-2002, 05:45 PM thanx for replies,
like I said I don't wanna start a warez site or upload mp3's for public, if I would I would call this post "looking for a host whos gonna store mp3's, warez etc. and I'm not making any research for that ,
like you said if I just upload a mp3 and have my friend downloaded it and then delete its gonna be ok
I'm just new to this and I wanna make sure before I buy
thanx
EzHost 08-08-2002, 09:26 PM dwhsnet, and marinkog.....
If you are talking about copyrighted MP3's, they are copyrighted material, and you are actually breaking the law by uploading, downloading, trading, etc.....pirated copies.
You not only put yourself at risk, but also the hosting company that allows you to upload, download, or store said MP3's on their servers.
Most hosting companies will either immediately delete your site and cancel your account, or remove the MP3's, and give you a warning.
