View Full Version : AudioGalaxy? What Happened?

I know this is probably history now, but what actually happened to AudioGalaxy? Could someone point me to a press release or a news article of why they stopped allowing users to share music?

I've searched here and nothing, but the first time I heard about AG not working is here when someone posted a thread asking what are the alternatives... ever since I've been wondering what happened to them... they were the best site out of all the rest. I've just tried WinMX which was awfully slow... I had Kazaa on the computer a few days ago, but didn't like the fact that a lot of spyware is installed with it and I couldn't stop it from opening automatically each time the computer was booted up (even though the setting was turned off).

Also, what happens/happened to those users who paid for the premium service?

And if you have kazaa or any of those file swapping [we place spyware on your PC], download adaware and get rid of spywar at - http://www.webattack.com/get/adaware.shtml

Well yeah... but not yet found a good place that was as fast as AG :(. I'll give KazaaLite a try later on.

I have to agree, ad-aware is a great piece of software, unfortunatley when you remove the spyware from kazaa with it, kazaa stops working :(, of course you should get it and remove what its left over anyway.

Just tried the KazaaLite program and in my opinion it's probably the best one out of the ones listed above. The speeds are also very impressive since I used to get less than 1Kb/sec with Kazaa, but I'm getting about 15-40Kb/sec with KazaaLite.

Installing Kazaa also installs spyware....installing ad aware by lavasoft removes said spyware which in turn causes kazaa to stop working. I've given up on all the sillyness. I just go to www.shoutcast.com and let someone else decide what I listen to :D

Never had any problems - but then again I'm on dialup :)

I get downloads of about 5kb/s. I've used it at my friend's place with cable and have gotten 60kb/s so the speed is acceptable to me.

The old version was slow with regards to searching, etc. but the new version is quite fast.

As with all filesharing applications, it also depends greatly on the outgoing bandwidth of the person you are receiving from.
