View Full Version : 9NetAve.com/9NetAve.ca What a Disaster!

I first set up a reseller account with 9NetAve over three years ago. When they opened up in Canada about a year later, I switched my account to their Canadian operation.

I've been having major problems with 9NetAve in the past few months since they were bought out by XO. It took me THREE WEEKS a couple months ago (usually should take 24-48 hours) to get a domain name and website set up for a client who self-administers their site. Turns out they were put onto a Unix server, not and NT one which they require. When I submitted an online trouble ticket, called tech support, etc., about it, they wound up calling the site's owner (who I have absolutely no dealings with BTW) BECAUSE THEY HAD NO RECORD OF ME OR THEIR WEB DEVELOPER (my actual client) on file!!!!!!!!!!!! So my client got a very confused call from his client about what was going on.

Online trouble tickets were absolutely useless. Calls to tech support usually went unanswered. I managed to get a few things done when Icalled up their sales people and had a temper tantrum or two.

I set up another website on Tuesday, it was working fine, then got a panicked e-mail from the client that it had disappeared! Sure enough, it was GONE. I went into my control panel, and ALL my websites (seven of them) had completely disappeared from there. At least all of them are
working, except the one set up on Tuesday.

Turns out, XO only bought the American 9NetAve company, not the Canadian one. Basically, XO has been "stealing" all the new domains registered by Canadian reseller customers of 9NetAve.ca!!!!

I finally get the name of someone on Wednesday night, and we finally spoke this morning. Turns out 9NetAve.ca has been bought out by 3WCorp (www.3wcorp.com). Their whole database is completely screwed up. Basically, they've got to rebuild their whole Canadian network infrastructure and all their Canadian resellers have to completely redo
EVERYTHING!

So I started looking into 3WCorp. They do not have a formal reseller program. And I'm NOT HAPPY with the plans they do have and their pricing is completely unacceptable. So I called one of their sales people with a ton of questions, and he tells me they are going bankrupt!!!! (To be honest, I may have misheard, and he may in fact have been referring to 9NetAve.)

I can't get individual logins for each domain. I can't mix platforms, etc. & etc. EWWWWWW and YUCKKKKK!

Most of my clients have really small websites, with only one or two e-mails, so I only charge them $10Cdn a month, payable a year in advance. 3WCorp wants $8US PER DOMAIN, or around $12Cdn.

So I called the guy that I'd been speaking to this morning, and he tried to calm me down and promised me he'd "take care of me" and was trying to find the "best possible solution" to my situation.

What a bloody nightmare!!!!!!!!!!

(Sorry for all the exclamation points, but I'm really, really upset.)

This post is to:

1. Alert everyone to the situation with 9NetAve

2. Desperately ask for recommendations for webhosting providers with good reseller programs, preferably in Canada, although that's not necessary, WHO ARE STABLE.

I'm sorry to hear about all the problems you have been having. 9netave wasn't that good even before they got bough. I herd some major horror stories.

9netave (us) got baught by concentric, not XO. Some other company baught concentric (can't remember the name right now). Then, that company changed its name to XO communications.

I recommend you look at http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?threadid=3053. You will find some good companies there.

If you only host small accounts then I think the new OLM.com RSE deal would be a good choice. They are one of the reliable big ones too :) so it won`t happen again.

Yep, I started with 9netave.ca before I got my own servers and they were frustrating. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

They're are a lot of smaller hosts that could easily accomodate you and your clients. I'm sure it wouldn't take longer then a day to get everything back up and running since smaller hosts provide much more personalized support.

If you tell them I referred you. They will give you a deal on the setup.

Hey Franc,

I see you're noticing our friend up there too huh?

Tonya,

So you're saying if we tell your company you refered us, then you'll give a great deal? Quite the run around... I think you've just shown over 2000 people you don't believe in honest advertising...
