I have ran into a design block designing the layout for my hosting site, I know what I want my content to be just not sure how to best present it. I have looked at many large, medium and small hosting sites as well as different template sites. Is there a 'norm' that I should be leaning towards? For the most part I have seen sites that have a large image for their header with plans/services listed almost directly below. This seems to take up most of the home page's space, which would leave me with less room for the other content I would like to include. I do not wish to have everything on the home page, but I would like to show that there is much more to the site then just the home page showing the plans/services that are offered.

The main goal of my design is to attract my target customers, but at the same time I don't want to under/over do it either. I want them to see the value-added products/services that are offered, some that will be totally free to anyone who visits the website. Since this is the face of my business I want to ensure that I put the best foot forward.

I have designed many different sites before, ranging from personal to business, static to custom template engines. It may be possible that I am over thinking the issue, but I want to make it the best possible design so I can achieve the goals I have in place.

Thanks.

If I have posted this in the wrong forum, could it be moved to the correct place.

I think that the best will be: have 2 or 3 variants of the your web site design and then ask opinion or compare them yourself. It is quite difficult to image something on the papper ;)

Initially I just wanted a forum as my main webhosting website, like httpme or dotable.

My web designer convinced me otherwise. It took some time to get our ideas together --- but i ended up liking the final output very much. Although new ideas keep coming i feel its best to wait for some time before one starts changing the layout -- too frequent major changes might prompt customers to complain.

good luck
