There isn't a package there... but building it goes just fine. Upgraded one of mine yesterday and one today...

Are you on a RAQ? If so it shouldn't crash the control panel. It might, but it shouldn't

No it wont crash you GUI, they are just lazy. If you need help I can help you install it, if you want i can do it for you.

Lazy or incompetent. Take your pick. There might be some issues with installing from sources if you rely on some of the functions that a pkg install might bring, but in the end you get a more flexible build.

The installation of php 4.2.2 won't itself crash the control panel, if done correctly and by a knowledgable person.... but you are at "RISK" of doing so when you apply the next Cobalt released .PKG of about anything.

Proceed with caution and always consult the Cobalt Forum (http://supportforum.sun.com/cgi-bin/WebX.cgi?/cobalt.raq.general) itself.
