From my local paper's odd spot :

Bill and Melinda Gates are about to expand their $200 million Seattle mansion. The reason? They're expecting their third child. Despite having 24 bathrooms, six kitchens, an 18-metre indoor pool and a dining room to seat 120 guests, the Gates' has just four bedrooms. Now that's a glitch.

Ouch.

Four bedrooms for four wives? J/K oh well. He is hell of rich man.

$200 million? WOW! Every account I read, and saw on television, had the price tag around $50 million.

Maybe that was unfurnished.

It doesn't surprise me that his mansion only has 4 bedrooms. Old habits die hard. Bill forced himself to get a upgrade in the future, which is now.

He'll say it's $200 million to his friends / coworkers / etc.

But when Uncle Sam and the property tax collectors come looking for the .1% for yearly taxes, it suddenly only worth 1/4 that much.

Bearing in mind, BC's local rag is probably quoting in Australian monopoly money. Last time I checked it was about 53c (US) for every $1 (AU) which is effectively double the price. Good for exporting, bad for importing :)

Actually I was in Seattle around the time that house of his was working out it's property tax. Apparently he gets slugged a cool million a year. The local people on the streets of Seattle and Redmond didn't feel too sorry for him..

Ohh, I felt it, I was on the third floor of a 70 year old school building, leaning back in my chair. As far as damage not a whole lot occured up north, but it did move things around.
