I hope it eventuates - if it does I'll definately be buying one. I've always wanted a Mac for the look of the hardware (excluding those older hideous iMacs) - but I've never liked the Macintosh operating system (<= OS 9.. I haven't used OS X yet). Hrmm *thinks new style iMac with Windows/Linux and gets excited* :D --Shaun Techark 08-07-2002, 01:05 AM Nice fantasy. But I doubt it. More likely is that Apple ports it's OS to work on the Intel platform and we can all consider dropping windoze. YEAH!!!! VoxKeysGtr 08-07-2002, 01:30 AM Originally posted by Monte Nice fantasy. That was in development a long time ago, back before Steve Jobs returned to run Apple. It didn't pan out then. Did you actually read the article? Did you actually read the article? Yes and as he said he had no inside knowledge or reason to believe it was true, just his idea of what made sense. If you look at the Apple and how dependent it is on special chips for graphics it makes more sense that they would port the OS than port the hardware. JMHO Thirdbrain 08-07-2002, 02:00 AM I just wander how long before there is linux clone of the mac os x. I know that os x is unix based, but for some to emulate the total look and feel of the enviorment. Studio64 08-07-2002, 05:18 AM If this is so simple, why hasn't this done before? Why can't I simply pop an OSX CD into a PC machine? Why hasn't this been posted on Slashdot or other tech related sites? There is an underlying hardware issue that isn't discussed in the article... Anyone else have a reason why this hasn't been done before? Andrew 08-07-2002, 07:33 AM Well, if this happens, in spite of what they're saying in the article, looks as if you will be able to pop in an OSX cd and use it on your PC. Which is the worst news ever to hit Microsoft. I personally can't wait. Thirdbrain 08-07-2002, 08:47 AM I will probaly switch over to the mac os x if they do that, and run a combo of mac and linux based software. Where did I lay my copy of Staroffice??? |
