every now and then google does a "tribute" to a person, holiday or something.....
Studio64 08-06-2002, 05:02 PM Every once and a while Google will alter their front image for days they think are important....
I'm not entirely sure why this image was placed up there these last few days. Warhol was born on Sept 23 and died on Feb 22 so obviously not those dates.... Anyone else have any ideas?
So other logos Google has used in the past for holidays can be found here

JeremyV 08-06-2002, 05:21 PM American artist and filmmaker Andy Warhol was born with the name Andy Warhola in Czechoslovakia. The definite year of his birth is unknown, but his two older brothers and birth certificate claim his birthday to be August 6,1928. Whether or not this is his actual birthday, Andy Warhola celebrated it as his own as if there wasn’t any confusion about the event at all.
Perhaps it's because, the logo was in the style of Andy Warhol?
Yeap... This is the reason ;)
Raman Kumar 08-06-2002, 05:45 PM Hold your mouse over the logo. :)
ned patter 08-06-2002, 06:00 PM who's andy Warhol?. Is he a pop star?.
Rotifer 08-06-2002, 06:06 PM He was a pop artist. He did the famous "Sticky Fingers" cover for the Rolling Stones .. among many other things.

Wasn't/isn't down for me, I don't think I've ever seen it down, and the few times I've had troubles accessing it, it was because of my stupid internet connection ;)
ned patter 08-06-2002, 09:31 PM First we are celebrating someone that's dies and now we are celebrating someone birthday which hardly anyone has heard of either of them..
I'll tell google when i get a new girlfreind and they can celebrate that.

But why should we even consider celebrating a dead presidents birthday when it is down to him that millions of other people are dead.

B/C They were presidents and as you said they were just "millions of other people"...
The fact that they became president instead of just being "millions of other people" might be worth at least recognizing.
ned patter 08-07-2002, 01:22 PM Yes but there stupid people, bad people presidents are.
Presidents are killers.
Why did John from glasgow get killed last week? because presidents don't do anything about it, PM's could have stopped a killing but they didn't and thatt makes them killers.
If your walking along the street and one car bashes into another car and the bashed car knocks you down. It's not the fault of the car that knocked you down.
Two points i have made there and two very good ones at that.
Rotifer 08-07-2002, 01:33 PM Originally, president's day honored the birthday of George Washington (our first president). I think they have added a couple more, like Abraham Lincoln and Thomas Jefferson. It isn't meant to celebrate all presidents ... we have had quite a few crappy ones. Doesn't the UK have Disraeli day? Churchill day perhaps?
ned patter 08-07-2002, 02:18 PM No. Look at the mess this countrys in, who would want to remember any PM?.
America started to fall apart in the 1950's and it was the 1960's for the UK.
