Hi,

Does anyone know of a reliable win 2k dedicated hosting solution?

I currently use DataPipe.com and they are great but very expensive.

Things I am looking for are
dual GigHz processor
1 gig RAM
SQL 2000
daily backups
800 GB of Bandwidth

I don't need too much tech support so long as the server and network are stable...

that deal costs me approx 1600 / month at datapipe...

thanks

Check with Mike at RackMy.com (http://www.rackmy.com). They are in St. Louis. I have a box with them and it ROCKS! I've never had downtime and the speed is awesome. My packets usually travel over UUnet or AT&T although I think I've seen them fly across internap before as well. Mike knows all the details.

Granted, my box runs debian but they specialize in W2K hosting...

Check out fastservers.net , their standard plan is 1Mbps but I am sure they can do something about it.

You may want to post a request in the request forum or provide a email address for people to contact you at.

www.fastservers.net
www.meganetserve.com
www.webreseller.net

and some fellows like rostoma & ^kyo can offer what you are looking for..search for their usernames on the forum and you'll find more info.

fastservers.net, webreseller.net, eserver.biz and others accept windows dediacted servers. But Rackmy.com is more professional. As I know RackMy has only windows services.

The owner which usually posts here is a real windows hosting professional.

They are a little expensive in comparison to others but they provide best service (including high quality BW and good support) .

Correct..Rackmy is one of the first choice if you are purely looking for a manged server on win2k platform.

But if you look at the post then you'll find the fellow requires a host who provides lot of bandwidth & Rackmy is expensive on BW part.

Generally I always suggest customers to chose Unix solutions if they are planning to have a big site.

Both unix hosting and unix BW prices are considrably lower than windows. Also unix servers have higher performance (windows saturates under lower loads).

If your site uses huge bandwidth then managing such a big site will be easier under unix. (I know you will need a lot of programming)

Also unix servers have higher performance (windows saturates under lower loads). I would not say that. We have single processor (1 Ghz) 512 MB RAM - W2K machines that do 45-50 Mbps of sustained traffic with without ever going over 40% CPU utilization.

FUD.

I wouldn't ever use windows because I can't trust myself to secure it or tweak the hell out of it (just like any *nix needs) however...hotmail.com doesn't seem to have a problem with win32 running their entire frontend and msn and microsoft.com

ebay.com used to run windows web servers as well although I haven't checked in a while and they have a deal with IBM so that might be over.
