I'm looking for cart software that I can easily integrate into a site I've already got made. I've yet to find something that I can drop in and edit the layout really well. I've been resorting to Virturemart for now, but 90% of the time I don't need the whole joomla backend :(

All decent shopping carts run on html/css templates nowadays which allow you to design cart pages however you want.

Examples

Cubecart
Jshop
Viart
Sunshop

to name a few...

X-cart is skinnable but the sheer volume of templates makes it a long job
Lite Commerce is pretty strightforward but due to some template tags it won't validate

pinnaclecart is pretty good at it - take a look at http://cart.1929.co.uk

In terms of doing what you describe -- dropping the cart "into" your existing template -- Avactis (http://www.avactis.com) does exactly that.

The user manual (http://www.avactis.com/manuals/Avactis_Online_Storefront_Development_and_Integration.php) explains each of their tags and provides pictures of what each tag will do for you ... so you can literally drop the cart tags into your current site.

Good luck! :)

Awesome, I'll give them a go.

I checked out the Pinnacle Cart as well, if Avactis doesn't do it, I'm going to check that one out.

No, not in the way the OP described. Please don't send the poor fellow on a wild-goose chase here. OSC/Zen/CRE and its flavors are not built/functional the way the OP is looking for.

I've done enough research and work with Zen Cart/osCommerce to know they are not what I need. They are more like a one stop shop for creating a site, I merely need "components" of a shopping cart to drop into my site. Avactis does exactly that.

I agree with previous postings, they developed Avactis with the main goal - easy integration with the existing web site. Also they released new version and there are many new features.

If you want something to just add 'buy' tags then RomanCart (http://romancart.com) would be good for you as its completely seperate and allows you to just add 'buy' buttons to your existing site. Comes with most payment providers too.
