My domain's gone down, and pinging all four of mydomain's DNS servers shows they're all down as well. Does anyone know if this happens often? If so, any idea of how long it usually takes for them to return? If this is a regular occurance, then any suggestions for alternative companies would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Peter Z.

Have you tried filing a trouble ticket or emailing your hosting company to see what the problem may be? They can probably best ascertain the situation and ETA for you.

Thanks for the fast response. My domain is http://www.barplacements.co.uk , the domain is with UK2.net and is pointing towards mydomain.com's DNS servers. The hosting is on my own server, and I can access the site through it's long URL - it's working fine. It's definately mydomain.com which is down - if you visit their website, it won't come up.
Thanks,
Peter.
You are right. Mydomain.com is down :(

I don't know if this is a regular occurrence or not, but I would suggest you get in touch with your hosting company. They can probably give you a better understanding of what's going on and how soon you'll be back up.
<edit>And with that..you're up again.</edit>

Thanks for that WiredDog, but how could my hosting company possibly know what problems mydomain.com are having any better than I do?
(I'm used a dedicated server hosted with Rackshack)

Forgive me, I overlooked that very important part of your post. (I need coffee.) I see your site now though, so it seems they've worked it out.

My stuff at mydomain.com works fine - I just tried it then.
I don't know if it was down previously though - I don't have any production stuff at mydomain (just private testing stuff).
