This is actually a great tool. I used it (quite some time ago) to create voice files to use in my e-mail program so that it'll tell me what e-mail comes in.

So, for example, when I get a sales e-mail, instead of just making the silly "new e-mail" sound that almost all e-mail programs come with by default, my computer now says, quite simply, "Sales E-Mail". Same with support requests, my system says "Support Request". Mailing list e-mail says "List E-Mail". And so on.

Very very useful. I even replaced the default "uh-oh" sound from ICQ to a child's voice saying "I Seek You". Very cool.

It does take some oddball spelling to make some words sound good with this tool (the voice synthesizer tends to accentuate the wrong syllables), but it really is very very useful.

I even (for a while) considered using this tool as the voice on our voicemail system - but I couldn't figure out how to get the sound file from my computer into the telephone so I just gave up.

Jason,

That is such a good idea it's scary :) Going to have a play with that thing now...

BC,

Actually I did use that page ages ago trying to come up with something 'cool' for a website of mine. After a while it suddenly occured to me that talking websites were a bad idea *lol*

Ok,

Just changed almost every sound on my laptop to text messages now. Lets see how long it is before they drive me crazy *lol*

In a truly sad attempt for attention, it now says hello and tells me it missed me on start-up :)

ROFLMAO @ Greg :D :D

Jason,

Yeah, I got the URL from over at SitePoint when someone asked about creating voice messages, and someone else provided the link. I like it so much that I'll be using it often for my own purposes (errrrrrrrrr.......).
