View Full Version : Why Readyhosting is just NO GOOD
imranz 08-05-2002, 10:02 PM Been with Readyhosting since December 2001, when I set up 5 domains with them. Fine to start, with great features. But little by little the servers got slower and slower, error after error, and occasional days of downtime. Just horrible.
As a last ditch effort, I posted a support ticket after trying to get more information about future plans for bettering the performance.
To this they replied with the suggestion to move me to a different server. But I and a friend using Readyhosting both have been moved a few times before between all our domains, to no avail. All their servers are just slow! So I mentioned to them that they've done this before, how the performance has degraded, and how I just want some professional communication, and "is readyhosting willing to provide some better service, or do I just need to take all my domains elsewhere ?
Their reply was this, and it settles it for me. Readyhosting NO MORE! Anyone have any suggestions for something better?
Hi, True moving it isn't going to help you to keep moving it around. When we move you, you generally get moved to one of the latest servers being used. At that time it is hard to tell what other sites are going to do to the server. Do I have a server that I think is better than others, not really. I wish I had something better to say to you or offer you the solution for the slowness, sorry.
Ben Tidquist, Readyhosting
How awful! Sure they're cheap. But you might as well not have a site 1 week out of the month!

Honesty is great. It would have been even more great if they would've said how much they were going to stink before you invest time and money and your sites into the domains. Now THAT would be honest. :)
Phoenix2k 08-07-2002, 12:05 AM Stuff happens. You get what you pay for. Sometimes cheap isn't always the answer.
dhecker 09-12-2002, 04:44 AM If 'you get what you pay for' is true, then readyhosting is a great shop. I have a few less-important domains hosted there and for 50 bucks a pop, you can't beat it. The service is usually ok, but it is sometimes spotty.
It's ok for the price, I think. The first domain is 99 a year then its 50 after that.
gumpboy84 09-12-2002, 02:11 PM As a former employee of readyhosting, here are some reasons why they are no good:
1. The owner of the company does not care about performance, he only cares about money. The servers they build are on the extreme low end.
2. They put over 700+ web sites on windows 2000 boxes.
3. There support staff is way over worked, and underpaid. It is a poorly run company.
I choose to leave the company after 4 months of work. I am very supprised the company is still around.
Another friend of mine and I started our own web company to compete with ready hosting. We offer much better support, build much better servers, and by no means are going to put 700+ web sites on one windows 2000 box.
Sorry about that, new to this forum. Please for give me.
I will endevor to not break any rules in the future.

Yup, but they've also got a problem that they need to look into:
Ping statistics for 63.99.209.48:
Packets: Sent = 100, Received = 84, Lost = 16 (16% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 121ms, Maximum = 145ms, Average = 127ms
Ping statistics for 63.99.204.65:
Packets: Sent = 100, Received = 92, Lost = 8 (8% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 68ms, Maximum = 228ms, Average = 86ms

Great. Now how about you read the rules to the forum. No self promotion. How about you edit this.
Dubtastic 09-12-2002, 03:01 PM I use ReadyHosting right now for Dubtastic.com and cannot stand their service, or lack there of. Never have I had an issue resolved in a friendly manner.
My site was down for 36 hours at one time with no explanation. They promise a 99.9% uptime when mine was averaging 98% at one point. It took several emails, phone calls, and written letters to even get a credit for the uptime that they promise you.
I was hooked on the price, but you get what you pay for I guess. I took am looking elsewhere, as they are simply horrible.
ljprevo 09-12-2002, 03:08 PM How could this company sponsor a ARCA Race a Chicagoland? :eek:
Guess they have money to burn loading their servers up.

You are so good that your link is down!
Right on for cheap hosing!!!
Richard Ward 09-13-2002, 12:22 AM Honesty's the best policy. Telling the truth to a customer about performance problems without blaming someone else is the way to go. This is not always flattering, but the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages. If other providers don't do this, they are doing you a large disservice. In a few weeks, we'll be offering the actual technical conversations between our technicians about problems and possible problems effecting our users. Most providers who do this will hide it behind a "Member's Section," where only their current customers can view the disaster area. We have nothing to hide from our potential customers and competitors, so it'll be right in front of the main website fluff for the Internet to see. Should be interesting. I can't wait to see it myself. :)

bheybugarin 09-13-2002, 02:19 AM Our website received a lot of traffic because of our marketing strategy, they suspend our website without notice and send us an email that we can transfer our site to other server. This was happen first quarter of this year.
I was not satisfied with their service and support.
