Hi - being a cyberwings customer I'm pretty much out on my own right now with no space on the web. I have a dsl line at home but i have a dynamic ip and the ISP wants 150 setup fee + an extra 20 a month to give me a static IP so I'm looking for a service that might allow name resolution against a dynamic ip. does something like this exist?
thanks in advance for your help.

dyndns (.com/.org) do what you need too. They seem to be 2 different companies.
Your tittle seems to suggest that you want to run a DN server on a dynamic ip. I dončt think that can be done, as many registrar need to have the IP of the DNS in their records. But using someone elses DNS (dyndns, and maybe zoneedit) to point to a (non-DNS) server with a dynamic IP can be done.

dyndns.org is the way to go IMHO. I've used them and haven't had any problems. Not to mention they are a lot cheaper than other companies (one time $10 donation). Plus, if you've got port 80 blocked, they'll handle that too.

I use dyndns.org, and its been great. My router even has built-in support for dyndns.org (it automatically updates my ip w/ them each time I connect).

If my router does not support automatically updating zoneedit.com or dyndns.com are there applications that will handle detecting an IP lease change at the router and forward the new address to my dynamic dns provider?
