Hello ,

You have 1 raq , I have 1 raq . So you can have 1 pri DNS , and I can have 1 pri DNS .

How about serving your raq as my 2nd DNS and serving my raq as your 2nd DNS ? Any individual interested ? I can write you a cgi or php script that can automatically add and remove DNS record.

You can have 2,3,4 th nameservers using this method.

As most active members in this forum are from 4WS and they don't allow DNS on our RaQs, I suggest that you try another forum.

But there's still not few members from outside 4WS here. So, good luck.

Nope, they said dns queries would be allowed if you show capability to protect yourself from hackers by updating bind and do not disturb their support.

Are you a 4WS client? I reveiced a mail from the staff there a few weeks ago, saying that NO MORE DNS SERVER IS ALLOWED.
Or did they change their policies after that mail???

there're a few explanation after that

"yes if a person demonstrates the ability to update their server they will be allowed to run those sorts of daemons

Most small web hosters won't have the content replicated on multiple web servers for redundancy. If the name server on your raq isn't responding because the raq is down or there is no network connectivity, having a secondary nameserver in this case only means that a user will be able to resolve the domain but will still be unable to retrieve any web pages.

So, this only seems useful if bind decides to shut itself down or dies...

That question can bring up 3rd world wars and People who didn't know when their servers went down are ... pitiiful.
Thanks, Netwhistle.

Hmmmm This sounds interesting and I might be interested if this is beneficial.. I already have a primary and secondary DNS... I am not with webhosting forum.... how would this benefit me besides the obvious fact that I will have and additional dns outside of where my name is hosted?
