View Full Version : raq550 - can't open admin panel

Hi all,

I have bought raq3 server with raq550 system installed two days ago and I am trying to configure it but with no success. I can connect via telnet and log in as admin but I am not able to open it via http. It says: unable to connect (firefox can't establish a connection to the server at 192.168.2.4)
Any ideas what is wrong?
Please do help.

When you buy a RaQ (any RaQ) It's important to always do a fresh restore to verify the hard disk is good working order and to make sure the Operating System is free from problems.

Yours is not, so go ahead the do the restore process for the 550 and you should have a healthy RaQ.

It is correct to try to install a fresh OS on a newly-purchased box. However, here are some simple steps you can try to diagnose the problem:

1) Does the system boot properly, and wind up showing a system name and TCP address on the front panel? If not, then there is something wrong with the software load (or the hardware) and you need to reload the OS and/or diagnose the hw;

2) Can you ping the address from a computer on your network? If yes, then you have network connectivity and the RaQ network stack is running. If not, the strongest likelihood is that your network configuration is wrong -- you're on the wrong subnet, a router is misconfigured, or something else. The details of this are beyond the scope here;

3) If you can ping it, try opening port 80 with telnet -- see if you get a connection at all. Try the ftp port. If http is not running, nothing is going to work, and you should probably reload the OS;

4) The fact that telnet doesn't work isn't very indicative -- many systems leave telnet off. Try ssh. If you don't know the admin password, then you're hosed anyway and should probably reload (though there is a recover mechanism).

If you are going to reload the OS, consider a modern OS instead of the 4-year-old RaQ OS. There are several CentOS+BlueQuartz solutions, notably StrongBolt and Nuonce, and a slightly different solution from Rackstar.

I have found a bug already. I re-installed chiliasp rpm and now I can connect however it says "the requested URL /error/forbidden.html was not found on this server". I am digging deeper.
Zeffie I am not going to do fresh restore (not yet) as I love challenges.
Thanks for your advice.

Well then I would suggest you post the output of
netstat -plan

and what happens when you start apache?
/etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd start

does it return to the command line? and did you do this before or after the netstat.. I would like to see your netstat after doing this and the output of...
tail -20 /var/log/httpd/error /var/log/messages

Does the admin server work? It is independent of the vsite Apache. It looks like it is running from what you've posted. I would guess (emphasis on "guess") that your ChiliSoft load is crashing Apache (htttpd) for some reason. I would disable and uninstall it and get the system working, then re-install it until it breaks, then start debugging. I would suspect version incompatibility.

yesterday I manage to connect to Asp server admin console but I am not able to change anything.
it looks to me like some folders are missing and some settings are pointed to incorrect folders
When I click on "manage a server" it says: "Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0131'
Disallowed Parent Path
consts.asp, line 62
The Include file '../setup.asp' cannot contain '..' to indicate
the parent directory. "
I agree with qnetwerker it would be version incompatibility.

Well then you to would be wrong....

So why is the admin server running on port 80?
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:80 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 1675/httpd.admsrv

edit /etc/admserv/conf/httpd.conf and change the 80 to 81 and reboot and retest.

if a problem persists
restart httpd
ps -auxfw
netstat -plan
tail -20 /var/log/httpd/error /var/log/messages

(Ignoring the gratuitous insult from the Zefster ...)

Clearly you have a munged-up httpd config at some level, whether due to ChiliSoft or otherwise. The log file you posted looks mostly normal, assuming the SIGTERMs are you shutting the server down at those stages, except for the "directory index forbidden" stuff -- Dir Index should be forbidden, but it shouldn't be trying to index those directories, unless you are trying them in,or something in /etc/httpd/conf.d or /etc/httpd/conf/vhosts is wrong.

I'm wondering if what happened here is that someone deleted all of /home/sites before selling the system to you. That would explain the missing stuff, and probably bollux up the httpd as well. Doing that without removing the sites from httpd configuration would probably mess a few things up.

I don't consider telling someone they are wrong an insult...

os or certain packages re-installation or just re-configuration existing files?

ok. looks good.. apache is now running. Now you need to get the admin server running...

start the admserv
/etc/rc.d/init.d/admserv start
test things
if a problem persists
ps -auxfw
netstat -plan
tail -20 /var/log/httpd/error /var/log/messages

still with no success
but I can run ASP Server Administration: 192.168.2.4:5100
when I click on 'server administration' it redirects to 192.168.2.4:444/login.php but "Unable to connect" - Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at 192.168.2.4:444

hummm.. well the admin server is not running...
Try and start it and then tail the error log

/etc/rc.d/init.d/admserv start
tail -20 /var/log/admserv/adm_error

yes, it looks like a path is not set up or files are missing:

geese.. isn't that nice of apache to not even give up an error message...

well you can turn on debugging for the admin server, touch /etc/DEBUG and try again I guess...

there is no errors at all:

ok. I have changed DocumentRoot to /usr/sausalito/ui/web in /etc/httpd/srm.conf and now when I input 192.168.2.4 into my web browser I get intro page with raq550 picture and little button on the bottom: START, but when I click on it it tries to download me a file loginhandler.php

Problem sorted out.
I have added:
<IfModule mod_mime.c>
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php
AddType application/x-httpd-php .phtml
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php3
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php4
AddType application/x-httpd-php .html
AddType application/x-httpd-php-source .phps
</IfModule>
into httpd.conf file.

good to hear... I'm sticking with my original comment of

When you buy a RaQ (any RaQ) It's important to always do a fresh restore to verify the hard disk is good working order and to make sure the Operating System is free from problems.
I would expect you to have more strange things going on too...

you can turn on debugging for the admin server, touch /etc/DEBUG

I just wanted to add that this is a Cobalt Only thing.
The Cobalt Developers built this into various places like apache the admin server and the gui. to use it...

# Turn on debug information
touch /etc/DEBUG

# Turn off debug information
rm /etc/DEBUG
