View Full Version : need a toll free provider, who are you using?
i just signed up at ATT, it's gonna take 2 weeks.. it's $15/month i think + 6.9 cents a minute.. oh well.. but i'm thinking, are there any companies out there that can have it up instantly? i guess ATT hasn't reserved the number yet, it's a vanity number... just wondering, i've googled but all the companies that come up seem shady and i wouldn't consider them..
just wondering what everyone else is using
I've had a good overall experience with kall8.com - Would definately go back to them if I ever need another toll free number.
linux-tech 11-22-2007, 07:19 PM I was using kall8, until I got tired of paying 20/month + for vanity number and not getting anything in return.
Now, I've moved on to ringcentral, and their setup is just fantastic. For less than I was paying at kall8, I get so much better for "features", and included call time.
kall8 can do it instantly, ringcentral does it instantly as well, as long as you don't want a vanity number, or to transfer numbers.

Hastings 11-23-2007, 05:45 PM I use www.phonepeople.com, very satisfied with the service, even got a really good number really cheap, including 500 minutes for $20/mo. Good deal if you ask me :)
&scott 11-24-2007, 01:35 PM I use GotvMail.com... they are good, starting at $9.95 a month. I have the $20 a month plan, though.
GixxerPC 11-24-2007, 06:05 PM RingCentral. Instant. Can change your numbers on the fly, call out button, change your on hold music to whatever...more and more..
Its a great service.

RossMAN 11-25-2007, 03:23 AM Kall8.com (http://www.kall8.com) is great for low usage customers like me.

Yep, I like Kall8 as well.
Their hunt group feature works out decent too if you have multiple people involved. Their support isn't the brightest, so you'll be on your own configuring it.

What exactly does that feature offer?

It allows you to direct the toll free line to multiple phone numbers. We have it setup in a daisy chain format so if I don't pick up, it goes on to my business partners phones. If none of us pick up, it goes back to a general voice mail setup at Kall8. I think they charge $5 a month for it, so it's not expensive at all.
cycomholdings 11-25-2007, 01:22 PM Doesn't SkypeIn offer free tolls numbers?

No, they don't.
dingloo 11-26-2007, 02:54 PM I've been using kall8 for over two years now and have no problems.
Will surely give RingCentral a try to see the features offered.

Dingloo
turn2websites 11-27-2007, 11:30 AM I use KALL8 but my # is pretty easy to remember because its an 888-311 and i like the band 311 so it's simple for me. I think i pay like $2/mo for the # and 6 or 7 cents a min...
BugaSoft 12-14-2007, 03:45 PM I am using tollfreeforwarding.com and is working good for me at the moment. You can also take a trial to see if is what you need.
speed-frag 01-03-2008, 02:49 AM RingCentral is also what I use very please with the features and support. Plus it is very easy to figure it all out. (7 day free trial also)
Nick H 01-03-2008, 04:42 AM Toll free is overrated. First of all, it can only be used in the United States. And, anyone I know in the US has long distance included with their phone package. But seriously, anyone who doesn't have long distance included in their phone service should really call the phone company up ;)

It's not JUST 'to be used within the states', I know plenty of individuals who can call me outside of the states, from Canada to Mexico (IIRC) throuh my RC account.
Toll free , when using the right provider is hardly overrated. With toll free, again, using the right provider, you get to set certain rules about what happens when, what extensions are available what hours, click to call setups, 'follow me' settings, even (in some cases), call forwarding by location.
I'd hardly call 'toll free' worthless. Not everyone HAS unlimited long distance in a reliable situation (and no, cellular communications are NOT reliable communications, as they are too reliant on 'signal' which may , or may not be available 5 feet from where you are).
Paying pennies a day for customers being able to reach you, not really a bad thing at all!
VAGU-Jeffrey 01-03-2008, 11:09 AM We use OneBox.com and love them.
I use OneBox. They are not the cheapest around (for what they offer) and not over the top expensive either. They are just right for what I need, eFax and eVoicemail. I also got a really good number, both toll-free and local, so I'm not complaining.
EDIT @VAGU: I didnt notice you use OneBox as well, hehe. Yea they're great!
PCTechMe 01-03-2008, 06:31 PM I have a vanity with Callture-Telcan. I have been with them for years. I use their forwarding service to any phone number for 9.95USD unlimited minutes.
cresci 01-03-2008, 10:13 PM I've been using Vitelity (vitelity.net) for more than a couple of years. Good service.

Can you please explain this plan/feature? Are you saying you get unlimited toll free minutes (I doubt that)?
semoweb 04-29-2010, 01:44 AM Verizon isnt a bad option.
Defcon|Rich 05-05-2010, 02:49 AM I use www.phonepeople.com, very satisfied with the service, even got a really good number really cheap, including 500 minutes for $20/mo. Good deal if you ask me :)
I'll second phone people. Been using them since 2004 and never had any problems. (FYI They used to be called 800tollfree)
We used kali800 (8x8) also and would recommend them as well for an in house/multi location solution.
