My web host just changed policy, no IRC Bots are allowed anymore :(

Not that I had one running before, but I could have, if I had wanted to . Now that's gone, freedom good bye :( and all because of one stupid user :smash: who used Eggdrop  to do a port scan or something...

In reaction our datacenter :karate: has taken the box from the net last night, meanwhile it's back up but with telnet off for all accounts, they suggest to reactivate telnet on individual demand :agree:.

Yes, I think it's catalog indeed. I found the IP block we use belongs to Catalog.net.

How come you know, are you from Catalog?

Who is irrisponsable? You mean my hosting company, because they used to have such a liberal policy as to telnet and IRC bots and the like?

Disallowing IRC bots is SOP for most hosting companies. As a general rule of thumb, any programs that run in the background will probably not be regarded very highly by any host.
