I decided to learn web design yesterday because it's a great skill to have. Anyway, I needed an idea for my first creation and my dads birthday is on January 1st, so I decided to create a web site for his business as a present.
Can anybody tell me how to turn my web design into a valid CSS and XHTML web site? I want the web site to be CSS and XHTML. I would like as much of it to be CSS as possible.

Based on what you know and what you posted I would suggest using a layout from here. http://blog.html.it/layoutgala/ Then set background colors to what you like for each div or use an image.
Google: css & xhtml for more how to's from a coding perspective.

Do not take this offensively, but, first, perfect your web design skills. Make designs clean, easy to look at, and contemporary. Make it so that the user can feel the purpose of the website without knowing it.
Next, after that, start at w3schools.com . Once you know the basic tags of xhtml and css styles, start downloading free website layouts and looking at the source of websites (I usually go on a website similiar to cssmania.com or logopond.com and look at the designers' websites. They help both by inspiring and giving you more to know with xhtml/css).
You could also get someone on this forum to help :)
Good luck, and feel free to PM me if you have questions !
