Hi Everyone,

Just wondering, if you sign-up a new customer do you activate the hosting package once first payment is received or before?

Please advise what the best route as I am worried about the fraud :)

Thanks

Activate it once the person actually pays. For us anyways everyday there are several orders that the person does not actually pay. They choose paypal as the payment option then simply go to paypal and leave from there. Usually always from high risk countries of course.

Yeah,

We too do the activation after receiving the payment, unless it is a customer we know. As Tony said, there are a lot of fraud orders everyday which make orders and will not pay.
So I think it will be always better to process orders after receiving payments to reduce frauds.

Now that being said, how would you word that to the customer has to pay first before we activate the hosting service, I use WHMCS as my billing system how can I prorate everything to the first of each month

That means, your "order now" page will take them to the WHMCS. right? They will have to make the payment to place the order. right?

Why you need to make the payments to the 1st of each month? WHMCS will automatically generate invoices on the same date of sign up every month.

The reasoning to this is becuase I want to standardized the billing every 1st of the month and the 15th.

Do you recommend that or no and why?

So far we did not face any problem with Instant account creation.

We setup account immedately after the client paid via 2checkout. If it failed 2checkout review after that, then we will suspend the account.

Because we don't sell domain name, there is no actual cost incur

Except valuable staff administration time ;)

Sort of, but very minimum because our domain creation is automated. Cancellation only require a few clicks
