we have moved our domain to s-t-a-r-g-a-t-e.com but its now almost 3 days and the domain doesn't resolve to the IP number..

I have read another thread here and i did the dns report:

dns report (http://www.dnsreport.com/tools/dnsreport.ch?domain=simonandrews.com)

the regarding domain is simonandrews.com .. apparently the are some seriouly problems from the report..

i host with VO .. should i change to VO's nameservers? at the moment i use s-t-a-r-g-a-t-e-s' (i have entered the IP number in s-t-a-r-g-a-t-e). if i use VO nameserver i don't have to give s-t-a-r-g-a-t-e the IP number to which the domain should resolve?

Hope somebody can help, because we lose sales every day.. and s-t-a-r-g-a-t-e support tickets need often more than 24h to be answered..

i mailed VO about this problem, they answered in no time:

You don't want to use ********s name servers unless they have the zone file for your domain on them, or something that
points to the proper machine the domain is hosted on. I do not think they offer this service, but if you update your dns
servers to the dns servers i've listed below your domain will work again.

so i changed the nameserver.. hope that will help

Your problem, in addition to whatever specific settings issues you have, is that you need to get your domain name out of S t a r g a t e. They've been becoming increasingly problematic to the domain name and hosting community for several weeks now. Plus there are a bunch of features that they don't offer and that many other registrars -- many of whom charge less -- do offer.

They have also been banned from these forums. That, alone, should tell you something.

Personally, I recommend that you find a good eNom reseller that meets or beats S t a r g a t e ' s price. I am unaware of a feature that a domain owner could possibly need which eNom's system does not supply. eNom's five nameservers would have proper zone SOA status and any domain using them would score well in DNSReports. And eNom's system is faster and more reliable than just about anyone out there. Granted, that may not have been the case before about a year ago. But this past year has been eNom's best and brightest. And it is now, in my opinion, the premier ICANN-approved registrar.

If you can find a good, reliable eNom reseller (and I'm sure others will chime-in here with their recommendations) that will support you if you need help, and if you transfer your domain over to your account there, all your problems will go away.

But even if you don't choose eNom, you really need to get away from S t a r g a t e. Quick.

Hmmmmm....
Is it interesting that the mods allow bad things to be told about S t a r g a t e but don't allow those who know better say any good things about S t a r g a t e.

Now, what exactly is your problem? The domain is registered, here's the info. Wait until it propagates to your ISP.

Smart move. S t a r g a t e won't magically guess where you need to point the domain until you specify the DNS servers yourself, like every other registrar.

well, now its working .. before i used VO nameserver i used s-targates' and gave them the IP of the new website in the DNS Panel, which worked before. But this time I had problems.. don't know why.. but thanks for all your help..

i think they had/have problems: when i logged in with another account i have with them i got some strange error messages (repeatedly), which is really scary, given that they are responsible for my domains.

No, what you did before was not the right process. Apparently you set it to forward to an IP that was shared among other web sites. The only guaranteed way to work is to use the web host's DNS.

no, i didn't use the forward feature from s.targate.com .. also the IP number i use for simonandrews.com is not shared..

What I meant, you used the IP as the "A name" correct?

i had another look and apparently it (dns panel) is something which has something to do with Forwarding.. which is pretty strange, i think i used that without the Forward Feature and it was working.. but even if i misconfigured the settings, why they didn't help when i needed help? now i have two support tickets open (one 2 days old), and i cannot even close it, which means they waste time answering it.. they use iCommunicate (http://www.icommunicate.net) from Microsoft for support tickets, which i find really strange, you cannot even see the text of the support ticket and you cannot change or as i said close the ticket..
