View Full Version : iPayment Inc
Bkim84 11-13-2007, 07:06 PM What would be the best way of reporting this company, they charge me a cancellation fee when i cancelled and I did not even have a contract. If I didn't look into it deeply. They took $350 out of my account without permission, and when I call they just admit that they made a mistake.
hotdog101 11-13-2007, 07:32 PM LOL good luck, consider yourself lucky that its only $300.
Most people are out thousands with this rougue company! forget it, move on, they're probably just add you to the TMF list for complaining! :)

Bkim84 11-13-2007, 08:20 PM I didn't know this company had a bad reputation, but I will say that they suck. They said they will be sending my money back in 2-3 business days, I don't remember telling them I'll give them a loan.
bithost(NET) 11-13-2007, 09:21 PM After you receive your money back, contact your bank and ask if all transactions to/from iPayment can be blocked. You now have an illegitimate, unauthorized debit to refer to as good reason why they should do that for you........... I don't know if it's a technical possibility, but it can't hurt to draw it to your bank's attention.

hotdog101 11-13-2007, 10:18 PM Bailey is right,
You need to do this: call your bank, ask them for the PAYEE reference ID for the deposits/debits from IPayments.
Then request a stop on that ID reference number.
They will still continue to try and take money from you even with a terminated account.

Thank you for the proper terminology, hotdog101 :)

fahadp 11-15-2007, 02:37 AM iPayment have some good products but my question is, do they support other countries than US?
hotdog101 11-15-2007, 03:49 PM Fahadp, no they're a US processor, US people only (well SSN required wht a US bank account).
fahadp 11-15-2007, 04:02 PM Thanks!!! Can you recommend any company that is providing merchant accounts world wide.
If not then their must some serivce providing credit card procession facilities.
I know about one site instaBill.com but i dont know how reliable it is
arbet 11-15-2007, 04:16 PM What I would have done in your place is design an SEO website targeting the keyword "iPayment", and warns users about them
Who knows? you might rank better than they do for their keyword:D :D
Corey Bryant 11-16-2007, 05:54 PM If this company allowed you to process credit cards with some type of a contract, that should have been a clue. A contract is needed to protect them as well as you.
You can report them to Visa / MasterCard for non-compliancy
fahadp 11-16-2007, 07:03 PM funny thing arbert :).... but if ipayment is a scam then someone should raise this issue seriously through legal channels
bithost(NET) 11-16-2007, 07:30 PM With what money? Their pockets are a helluva lot deeper than the average user of their services, and few lawyers are going to take a case pro bono unless it is an open-and-shut slam-dunk where they are virtually guaranteed a big payout.
:D Bailey.
AmiroPay 11-17-2007, 12:07 AM Processing companies to stay away
1. Card Service International (sorry, Corey)
2. Charge.com aka Pipeline Data aka CTS Holdings
3. iPayment
4. Online data (they are owned by iPayment now so it's the same company)
Note. iPayment is owned or somehow heavily affiliated with JP Morgan Chase bank, who is most conservative in underwriting. They are good for moms'n'pops stores where card is swiped but no-go for e-commerce. Now, there are thousands agents and companies working for iPayment/Chase, so look in your contract very closely(!) No matter how good company who sent you an application is called, even if it's "Best Internet High-Risk Merchant Services" if contract has iPayment or Chase as another signing party my advise don't sign and look for another provider.
bithost(NET) 11-17-2007, 05:31 AM I can personally corroborate Charge.com ......... they quoted me one discount rate online, then sent me a paper contract for a rate 1.2% higher than they quoted me online.
I ended up signing it because I was young and stupid and anxious to run through an overdue cycle of hosting billing.
It has wound up being a fine merchant account, I've had it for 7? years now... but I have long resented the bait-and-switch on discount rate.

I believe the issue should be treated through legal channels, but if you are not able to do anything legally about it, then I suggest that you expose your idea, although it is a funny way to do it:)
cdgcommerce 11-23-2007, 12:05 AM iPayment, Inc. is not a scam but it is definitely true that there have been many customer service issues associated with it. Their comfort area has always been the "low-to-no" processing accounts that mostly generate monthly flat fee revenue and which present minimal risk.
I remember one poignant investor conference where the CEO touted how their revenues had grown considerably due to acquisitions at the same time they had reduced their employee head count by nearly 25% or something close to that. (Not a good recipe for customer service and satisfaction!)
They have gone through many transitions over the years - originally iPayment bought out FBBH's merchant division and a number of other processors, then they went public and then they went back private again.
WirelessGalaxy 12-01-2007, 02:42 AM I dealt with iPayment Inc for almost 8 Years and I have just hated their customer service and merchant Support all along. We did volumes upto 3 million dollars with them every year and I have found them to be excessive in their fees structure, very poor risk management service and shady accounting practices. They will make changes to your account without ever sending you an official letter or calling your number. They will charge you $25 for every chargeback and will double deduct chargebacks even when refunds had been issued. iPayment is not the merchant service provider that will help your business grow. Stay away from them at all cost! Trust me on this. I do recommend Pivotal Payments. This company has excellent merchant support and reasonable rates, much better than iPayments inc.

It's funny that you vouch for Pivotal Payments when their acquiring bank is Chase, the same as for iPayments. Therefore their underwriting policies would be similar.
Unless Pivotal sends e-commerce applications to their another acquirer, Bank of America, which a more open for e-commerce.
if you are curios, just ask them who your account is with Chase or BofA.
hotdog101 12-02-2007, 02:20 AM chase is then linked to Firstdata. we all knows whats going on with them at the moment..
payjunction 12-05-2007, 09:30 PM iPayment is actually an ISO for Wells Fargo as of October I believe? No longer with Chase. They made the move because they wanted to get away from the underwriting issues they were having with Chase so should be better for ecommerce now.
However I do agree that their customer service blows and is in need of a serious over-haul.
hotdog101 02-07-2008, 07:59 PM What has that anything to do with Ipayment?
