So any one knows how can I fix this errors??
Thanks for your support.
If you could please do "apachectl configtest" and post the output here.
host911 08-04-2002, 05:14 AM Here is my configtest

ho247 08-04-2002, 05:51 AM Are you running CPanel? As CPanel seems to add the line "NameVirtualHost 139.81.32.186:80" all the time for some reason. I would open the /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf file and remove all the "NameVirtualHost 139.81.32.186:80" lines. As you might have had virtualh hosts using this IP address in the past, but when deleted, the NameVirtualHost field is still in the file, giving the error you've posted above. IF you need further details as to how to do this, just PM me.

clocker1996 08-04-2002, 06:12 AM host911 let me take a look at his server, and well I guess the problem is more than just that
when you try to ./apachectl start
it spits out that namevirtualhost crap, which is fine
but whats stopping the serv from starting is this
Apache:mod_ssl:Error: Private key not found.
**Stopped
./apachectl start: httpd could not be started
so when I tail'ed error_logs in the logs/ dir
root@hannibal [/usr/local/apache/bin]# tail ../logs/error_log

root@hannibal [/usr/local/apache/bin]# ls -al /usr/local/Zend/
/bin/ls: /usr/local/Zend/: No such file or directory
something appears to be really screwey with the apache configuration
i don't really mess with control panels - my servers are non-cp servers, so i can't really FIX his problem, if i could i would.
Ive atleast helped him pin point the problem more, and I hope somebody on WHT who knows cpanel well can help shed light on this problem
Oh, and one other thing.
I tried ./httpd
and it worked
started up the sites
sites are online
then i did killlall -9 httpd ; ./apachectl restart
and it also came back, it worked.
It won't start if you do ./apachectl start
but if you use restart, it works.
root@hannibal [/usr/local/apache/bin]# killall -9 httpd
httpd: no process killed
root@hannibal [/usr/local/apache/bin]# ./httpd

ho247 08-04-2002, 06:25 AM Two problems in the error log, which one is with mod_ssl and the other is with ZendOptimizer. ZO can be fixed by actually making sure the file is there, if not install ZO again and move or change the folder to point to the .so file.
With the mod_ssl problem, are there any SSL certs listed in the Apache config file? Make sure that the path to the key and the cert is at the path that is listed.
Without actually having access to the server to test all this, I'm just throwing out some ideas of the possible solutions to the problems. If host911 would like me to take a look at it, just contact me via PM.

netacore 08-04-2002, 09:49 AM It has nothing to do with CPanel.
The first thing I would have done is go through the httpd.conf, comment out any reference to SSL, just to get Apache back serving up pages.
Then, pick any error message related to OpenSSL and do a google groups search with the complete error message, make sure to quote it when searching.

I didn't suggest it was all CPanel's fault, the NameVirtualHost tags are added most likely by CPanel. The other problems are obviously not CPanel's fault, I've already made a few suggestions as to how it can be fixed though.

So what does that mean, it's fixed?
ho247 08-04-2002, 10:09 AM No, I'm not sure if it's fixed or not, but there's enough suggestions in this thread for host911 to fix the problem I think.

host911 08-04-2002, 11:57 AM Thanks for clocker1996 for fixing up the problem, but as he told its a temporary solution.
I think many things caused this errors; the asp support on linux, Wrong SSL Cert. installation, and as you said maybe from the CpAnel by the way it adds the NameVirtualHost tags ... which missed up many things in the httpd.conf.
I will keep my eye on it for now until I figure out how can I make the httpd.conf more organized.
Again Thanks all for your help and specially clocker1996 :),
for now I will keep you updated if anything happen with me and I will post everything has been done to solve the problem.
Thanks all for your support.
Dedicated 08-12-2002, 03:24 AM Did you fix the problem if so how as I have the same problem.
StevenG 08-13-2002, 07:26 AM Failed loading /usr/local/Zend/lib/ZendOptimizer.so: /usr/local/Zend/lib/ZendOptimizer.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Install zend optimiser to get rid of that fault. it's in /scripts
run: /scripts/installzendopt-php421 (For the latest php version)
Looks like someone installed a bad ssl cert to cause the second problem.. quick fix.... look at the config in /usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf and comment out ssl entries
ie
#<VirtualHost IP:443>
#ServerAdmin webmaster@secure.domain.com
#DocumentRoot /home/domain/public_html
#BytesLog domlogs/secure.domain.com-bytes_log
#ServerName secure.domain.com
#CustomLog /usr/local/apache/domlogs/secure.domain.com-ssl_log "%t %{version}c %{cipher}c %{clientcert}c"
#SSLVerifyClient none
#SSLEnable
#SSLCertificateFile /usr/share/ssl/certs/secure.domain.com.crt
#SSLCertificateKeyFile /usr/share/ssl/private/secure.domain.com.key
#SSLLogFile /var/log/secure.domain.com
#UserDir public_html
#ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/ /home/user/public_html/cgi-bin/
#</VirtualHost>
until you find the problem one. (Apache will start then) /etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd start
host911 08-13-2002, 09:38 AM for now yes i can say its fixed but I don't its stable yet,
the problem was from installing a SSL through the cpanel, so I comment out all the SSL in the httpd.conf
you can see above how to fix the problem and you need to do the same.
good luck
StevenG 08-13-2002, 06:15 PM To Fix it just remove the bad entry in httpd.conf and then remove the cert files in:
SSLCertificateFile /usr/share/ssl/certs/secure.domain.com.crt
SSLCertificateKeyFile /usr/share/ssl/private/secure.domain.com.key
SSLLogFile /var/log/secure.domain.com
Re-install the cert again :D
A good reason to not allow resellers to install their own certs within whm....... :)
linux-tech 09-15-2002, 03:10 AM The problem in this case was ssl not being able to read the certificate correctly.
As apache is run under various users with cpanel, each user should have the ability to read the individual ssl files, because if they can't, then **crash** goes apache, because, the server "thinks" the file doesn't exist.
As far as the Zend issue, that was simply because /usr/local/Zend didn't exist at alll. Apparently when php was installed, it wasn't made to exist. Problem solved by recompiling php and copying Zend to /usr/local/Zend.

Your logs tell you everything you need to know in this matter.
remove the BytesLog line, or check the syntax of it

netacore 09-30-2002, 02:39 PM albertg,
I suggest you backup your current config and then delete httpd.conf and rebuild apache.

Ok, that's about as ridiculous as saying "please, reboot your computer to solve thisproblem".
The problem is probably very simply handled, and a
reinstall of any prog is not an acceptable solution, unless the prog is completely corrupted (which in this case it doesn't look like).
netacore 09-30-2002, 03:21 PM It is obvious the person has more than one problem, and a new problem every week.
1. Delete httpd.conf (make sure to have a backup)
2. At command line, enter: /scripts/easyapache (which will rebuild apache automatically)
3. Copy/Paste old virtual hosts from httpd.conf into new httpd.conf
The above is the easiest solution and should not take more than 15 minutes.
BionhostStan 05-04-2004, 11:02 PM after running apachectl configtest I get the following:
Syntax error on line 206 of /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf:
Cannot load /usr/local/apache/libexec/mod_rewrite.so into server: /usr/local/apache/libexec/mod_rewrite.so: undefined symbol: ap_user_id
What's the problem? How do I fix it??
Lem0nHead 05-05-2004, 12:57 AM i'd reinstall apache too (specially because it's really easy with /scripts/easyapache)
BionhostStan 05-05-2004, 03:19 PM I already have...
