I have a fan site forum and I wanted to buy a vbulliten licence but it's not in my budget right now so I went with php thats included in my hosting. Does anyone design skins and headers for forums. The domain is www.mileycyrusforums.com (http://www.mileycyrusforums.com/).

Thanks!

You should try the WHT Marketplace forums

You might be able to find a style you like on phpbb.com and just change the header image to something more appropriate to your site. Doing a whole skin for phpbb isn't exactly a cakewalk.

Maybe I should just wait until I get vBulliten in a couple of months. I could get the license now but they charge another $139 to install it.

Is it a straight forward install? Ie. Set the database up etc just to get the board up and running? If so, I'll help you out, free of course :)

It's really very simple to do, 139$ is a rip off for installation.

Yeah, vBulletin is pretty (pardon the example) idiot proof to install. Upload and go in most cases. I'll go check the latest 3.6 build but I don't think you need to chmod anymore, the installer can do it for you. Even installing a new skin and a portal like VBAdvanced is really simple now that they've moved to a package scheme like Simple Machines does.

However if cost is really that big of a deal, just go grab a copy of SMF which is 90% of what VB is and that missing 10% can be addressed by user created mods. I run both VB and SMF w/o issue and most users are oblivious to the differences.

vbulliten install is quite easy, basically its as simple as upload, chmod, set up database, run install. Done and Dusted!

$139 for installation is a complete rip off, my friend installs, completely setups all child boards ect. installs any mod you might need for only $20... most the time he does it for free

PM me if you need any help
