View Full Version : Rackspace
Gem Hexen 08-03-2002, 09:34 PM On rackspace's website I see a $1 million server. I'm assuming that one is a mistake as it has a single processor and the larger solutions of clustered hosting are only $6-$12 thousand.

DanielP 08-03-2002, 09:47 PM Yup... that'd be a definate price mistake.... whoever did that just lost their job :o
FDrive 08-03-2002, 10:11 PM I noticed that too a few days ago, sent them an email about it.

mahinder 08-04-2002, 02:56 AM guys this is not lounge so that you can post your useless comments here :o
amusive.com 08-04-2002, 03:46 AM You didn't read the specs -- it includes 10 GB of bandwidth though :)

CritticAge 08-04-2002, 05:05 AM well, excuuuuuuuuuuse me!!
Haha, I found that funny :stickout :D
ho247 08-04-2002, 05:37 AM Wow, those are very high prices for dedicated servers (not including the $1,000,985.00 server). We've never had any experience with Sun servers, but they are 440MHz with only 256MB RAM etc, and it's like $6063/month?? That's one serious price for a set of servers, for the amount of bandwidth you get.
But then again, it comes with RackWatch Gold, which would mean that if the servers every go down or if there are any problems, then a Rackspace tech will get it backup for you straight away without you having to call them or anything.
Do you think Rackspace could have put the $1,000,985/month price tag on one server just to see if anyone notices? or if anyone actually looks at that page? :)

That's probably a good possibility... It may have been a marketing thing. Just imagine what someone would think if they called and the guy said "Well sir if you order today, I can take a few hundred thousand off this server.". That would just be funny. :D

I think some of those had > 1 processors
ho247 08-04-2002, 04:45 PM Yeah, the web servers have single processors and the database servers have either dual or quad processors. I've just went to the URL again, seems Rackspace have now removed the 'million dollar server', lol.
