Ok, fortunately I have never been in such a situation but I wonder if somebody else on this forum ever was.
If so, how did you get your domains out? Naturally, technically, you still own all your domains but Federal jurisdiction may say otherwise due to pure ignorance, likely forcing you into a lengthy legal battle over your property while your business dies...
Any experiences? (I hope not ;))

The only Registrar that I know of that went "belly up" was Registerfly. ICANN revoked their accreditation and had GoDaddy step in to take over the domains. It was very messy and many lost their expiring domains before GoDaddy took over. Nine months later lawyers and law suits are still circling but nothing of note has been filed or resolved. Legal battles take too long by which time you have lost your domain with no hope of getting it back.

Registerfly hasn't gone "belly up" just yet. RF is still open and operational. For how long... not sure.

I was just looking for a short and precise thread title, which apparently ended up not being precise enough. No registrar that I know of is going belly up, even though the thread title might imply something else. I'm sorry if this caused confusion.

They are no longer an ICANN-accredited registrar, but a reseller just like you and me. ;)

You are correct, not a register now, but still selling domains.
