I always buy them at mydomain.com where you can get them for $7 if you use the coupon code 7domain (.com, .net, org).
(Without coupon code $8.75 which is still quite cheap afaik.)

I really like idotz.net they are my favorite place to buy domains.

their template could use some work though.

Spend a few extra dollars and use a good registrar.

It's only a couple of dollars a year, if you're thinking of running a site you should have a few dollars anyways. I would ignore the price and only worry about the trust and security of who you register with.

Yes if you only have one or two domains then the price should not be a concern since most popular registers are all under $10 these days. If you have bulk then use one that offers a good service, features, prices and support.

I asked them this and it was $7.99 a few months ago... but many reg have went up on prices since then.

Use an ICANN "registrar", not a re-seller. The few dollars extra you spend per year will be more than worth it when the reseller you may be using goes belly up.

I personally use eNom and have for years. I have a few over at 000Domains and have never had a single issue with them.
