Yes well see i will be moving house in like 7 or 8 months and it may be impossible to get a phone line so i'm just wondering what this mobile internet thing is and if it exists..
Really like take for example i was living in a tent which i won't be but obviously you won't be able to get a phone line near there so i would need some kind of wireless internet for a normal desktop so i'm just wondering iof anyone knows anything about this?..

Mobile Internet certainly does exist.

If you're permanently situated, look into two way satellite although it most likely will be expensive (I assume it's available in your part of the world).

Other forms include mobile Internet through a cellular phone - I use that occasionally when I'm on a train, etc. and need to send something through although at per minute rates it can quickly add up to be quite expensive.

There is also GPRS - you are permanently connected through your mobile phone and only pay for data transfered (transfer rate is about 4kb/s). However, depending on your part of the world it can be expensive (cost is ~AU$11 per mb here)

Why can't you get a phone line? If you've got access to the place you are moving to - order it now through the phone company. My uncle just bought a property in the middle of nowhere (we're in Australia though) with the main road about 10 minutes drive. The phone company gave him a satellite phone which emulated a PSTN line and was charged at PSTN rates while they dug the trenches and ran the cable.

However, the project took them a few months and I think I remember him mentioning it cost him about $15,000 so it isn't for everyone.

Well guys i'll be moving away from my mum soon for the first time and i want to find a house that is right as well as an area and i have a few areas in mind and what i would really prefer is if i rent a caravan at some british holiday park(i love them) for a few months and see if i like the place before i go into anything big like buying a house.
I can't live without the internet and in a few months i will be doing some live streaming and i would hope i will be able to continue this while house and area hunting..

Infact i wouldn't mind living mobile few a few years even.

I'll see i'll see guys.

... I bought the Siemens SX45 which is Windows Pocket PC and Mobile in one. It is kinda expensive around 1200 Euro/USD but it really helps me to get out of the office and even do reboots or reply to helpdesk or emaisl even when I sit on the beach :D

I use GPRS (indeed 10$/MB so careful!) to be connected permanently for IRC, AIM, ICQ etc and I use GSM Data Dial up for browsing and email. Also I ca nsend faxes and of course call people.

Its use as a PERMANENT solution is NOT recommended though! I have a plan with Panafon/Vodafon here in Greece which is around 100 Euro/USD per month just to have a cheaper minute price (+120 minutes airtime free) and cheaper GPRS and still I pay more then that 100.

Contact me anytime if you like, preferably on the phone and I can tell you all about Mobile Internet... I am kinda Guru in that stuff now
