Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone thinks there is merit in starting a hosting business that hides the user from the complexities of setting up the website backend and only providing a dedicated website builder only (like swsoft sitebuilder or rvsitebuilder)?

services to include:
- domain and email setup for the user
- easy to use websit builder
- full support of email and builder products
- targetted towards small/medium business that are not computer savvy

please post your thoughts...

Very cool idea. There are a lot of people who don't care about whats going on behind the scene, and just want to see the finished product. If you can find a way to streamline it there might be a number of people who are interested in it.

There are a lot of companies that already offer this. Godaddy comes to mind.

If you go to many companies, they won't have any idea where to get a service like this though. Marketing and selling your product is what will make the difference in this case.

i guess the direct competitors are guys like moonfruit and homestead! and the indirect competitors are webdesigners, other website builders, webhosters etc...

still going to be tough to win the clients... any tips?

Take their problems away from them. They want a website, they don't want to be bothered with all the tech stuff as you said at the top of the thread. simple simple simple thats what they need, let them have it and overdo the customer support, be pro-active, so many don't even do customer support. Take time to understand the small business person - you is one!

Pretty much every hosting company already offers this.

The trick is that you must market and advertise "simple website design" instead of "disk space and bandwidth".
