What I'm looking for is a reseller who will allow me to create multiple domains under 1 account.
SoftWareRevue 08-02-2002, 11:41 PM Although I have no experience with www.*************.com; the fact that they can't seem to keep their web site up, should be cause for concern.

FDrive 08-03-2002, 12:08 AM The guys from Acunet are active members on this board... that's always a good attribute for a host IMO.
APEXware 08-03-2002, 12:42 AM And I am also in Texas and run Apexware..

There's more to that comment than meets the eye actually. :)
WHT is like an acid test for any host. If a host is a regular on this forum, then they will attract business. This is the up side. The downside is, is that if things go wrong [and they usually do], their clients come back to this forum and let everyone know about the problems etc. So this can work against a host.
Mchost is a classic example. They have benefited enormously from this forum but because of their large client base and connections to this forum, when things go wrong, it's plastered all over WHT.
There are reasons why hosts choose to remain anonymous on this forum. Very little of their reasoning has to do with not "mining" WHT for their own gain. You also expose your business to scrutiny from other hosts and become accountable to the larger community too.
Therefore, if a host can survive a good length of time [12mths or more] when they are active in these forums, it's a good chance that their business model is sound and they do the right thing by their clients. :)

I've enjoyed many of your words of wit and wisdom, but this one was one of the most succinctly worded. The logic is irrefutable. :dunce:

Thanks :D I'm just an Aussie with an opinion on just about everything who like to have a yap every now and then. ;) :D
Techark 08-03-2002, 05:36 AM Bob while I understand your logic, I have to differ with your opinion on a couple of points. There are still some host that are active on this board that have ripped people off, shown total disregard for their customers, proved time and time again they are only interested in sales not service.
I do not think a high post count on WHT really means allot unless the customer takes the time to read past threads and learn what he is dealing with,
just my 0.02 cents
TexasMan the only one on your list I have heard about is Acunett, and I do not recall having seen any negative post on them here and sometimes that is better than few newbies praising a host after 2 weeks.

I should have added a "In most cases" to further quantify my statement. But then again, if a host has ripped off clients and done the wrong thing, there is that little search (http://webhostingtalk.com/search.php?s=) button where all is revealed. :D
TexasMan 08-03-2002, 02:37 PM (1) Thanks to those who responded or will respond.
(2) Yes, the search button is in heavy use, during my time on WHT.
Acunett is getting my heavy attention. One good thing is that they have a somewhat active forum to participate in.

Yes. Forums are a fantastic way for folks to get a feel for how a host interacts with their clients. A busy forum is a great sales tool. :)
TexasMan 08-03-2002, 04:23 PM Yes, your site has an excellent and active forum, Bob. Others can learn from it.
Rochen 08-03-2002, 04:31 PM I ditto Rob a few posts ago about WebHostingTalk ;)
ditto what Rob said a few posts ago about WebHostingTalk :D and Monte, he only said "survive a good length of time" not "high post count"
We all know high posts counts only mean they posted a lot. It does not mean what they posted was helpful, or even made sense.
Its fun to do a search not only on the hosting Co., but on the owner. Here, you will see their true colors. I find the same ones always defending their Co. (I guess aplogising, and fixing something is out of the question eh?)

:D actually, our site is the forum. The forum is the site. The 2 shall become 1. ;)
smidwap 08-04-2002, 12:06 AM I have had nothing but good experiences with AcuNett, except for maybe one off topic incident. They answer support tickets VERY fast, and are very nice and kind to their customers. Just my 2 cents.
PulseHost 08-04-2002, 04:53 PM Nothing but good things to say about Acunett, I talk to Ronny a lot... Acunett is great! :)

AcuNett 08-05-2002, 02:22 PM Hey I know AcuNett!
I think i host them. :D
smidwap 08-05-2002, 03:30 PM * Tries to get a laugh to come out. *

Do you really? :o
denliv 08-06-2002, 05:02 PM I'm a new Acunett client (about a month) and have been very pleased with them so far. Their summer special beats about all I've seen available too - (was gonna mention it but don't know if that's allowed). Anyway check out their site...
mas3000 08-06-2002, 11:56 PM I would say AcuNett is great. They've been more flexible than any host. BUT I don't recommend them for reselling. It's not them, it's Plesk. Plesk does not allow you to oversell, which is not good for a reseller. They're suppose to be moving to cPanel soon, and when they do I suggest you join.
- Mike:)
AcuNett 08-07-2002, 01:29 AM Thanks for the compliment mas, although we do have a way to get arround the overselling limitation for our own customers. I can't talk about it in this forum, but if you are wondering how or what, please PM me. We can only work around these limitations for customers only. It's nothing to do with configuring PLESK by the way for all those who are wondering.
mas3000 08-07-2002, 01:37 AM Ronny, why aren't you on AIM??
