I am not easily impressed (no, really I 'm not LOL). But today I have been impressed greatly with WHM/Cpanel.

I already have an Ensim server, and have had a Sphera server in the past. i have also used Alabanza and Plesk as an end user.

WHM/CPanel beats them all. WHM may not look pretty, but it sure covers all the bases.

Anyway - just my 2 cents!

I also prefer WHM/cpanel. But just wait till it self-updates, maybe your opinion will change.

Can you explain?

Have you had problems when it updates itself?

:(

I have just started using it myself, and like you said, whm is ugly, but you can turn that update feature OFF..

WHM/CPanel is great, however it does have a lot of "sloppy" coding in it.

It has minor bugs and when you report them they ignore them. Otherwise they're great!

It is great :). There are a few bugs that have been worked out and are left.. Nick has did a good job...

:disagree:

WHM is sooooooo confusing, way too many links, when they can have the info under 1 or 2.

I personally like using WHM... but I do admit that they should make it look much nicer, or maybe someone could start making skins for WHM instead of just CPanel themes (there's an idea for people who make CPanel themes). There's more and more people who offer reseller hosting, which includes the WHM control panel, but it's not as appealing as the CPanel control panel that they'll see. Maybe a matching CPanel and WHM theme set?

You can trun auto updates off. I have, I login frequently anyway.. That way I can make sure everything still works after the update!!
:D

Auto updates cause more hassle than they're worth, you are best sticking to manual ;)

On Linux, nothing comes close to WHM/Cpanel! and we haven't had any major issues with the auto updates either ;)

Leaving auto update on for cpanel is as bad as leaving the rhn update on auto - Manual is the way to do it IMO :D

I prefer CPanel/WHM over everything as well, although when HostGUI comes out, I might switch over ;)

Please explain the process for updating manually.

Can one go to a previous day(s) or week(s) update and install it?
If yes. Then please explain.

Updating manually is just a click in the WebHostManager menu...

It's also the best option IMHO :D

Thanks for the reply. But I knew that. I thought you were referring to updating at root level and that you could update from a previous stable update. Whereas if you use the update feature provided by the WHM you would still be succeptable to getting a buggy update and would find out as poop starts happening to the different features. " Hey admin my POP3 is puking ", etc etc

heheehe,

Well if you time your update right, (If there is a bad one available - very rare) You minimise your chances of getting it by NOT downloading the updates :D

Just update every so often... no biggie :D
