rackshack vs. fastservers?

Which is better over all, especially for uptime, support, and expandability?

I've had no problems with RackShack.net

But, I think overall Fastservers.net is probably better.

Then why are so many people saying how horrible rackshack can be.. is it user errors?

I really wanted to go with rackshack but everyone i talk to almost says they suck...

Fastservers seems nice, but rackshack pricing is a little better on certain plans..

Consider how many servers Rackshack has - they are a lot bigger, and therefore, you hear a lot more about them - which includes negative comments.

Makes since.. all around are they reliable though?

While I don't have any personal experience with the company, they obviously must be doing something right to have the number of customers that they have.

How many levels of users does their WHM/Cpanel have.. would it be better than ensim from rackshack if i was going to sale accounts to resellers?

Both Ensim and WHM have full reseller support.

the thing you have to remeber about rackshack is that they offer low cost dedicated server solutions. So logic says they are going to get the customers who are just looking at the price and nothing else. I am sure not all of thier customers are like that but some are. These are the people you see posting the horror stories on the boards because they don't understand its a totally unmanaged dedicated solution.

never used whm/cpanel, but on their site there is no mention of 3 levels,, unless i just missed it.. what control panel would the reseller use? cpanel? I dont see any management features on the standard reseller demo? Or would they be using WHM.. and in that case what is the control panel for the admin or is it the same for both the admin and the reseller?

I only see two levels on the demo.

Salutations:

CPANEL/WHM manager does have 3 Levels of Administration. The WHM is the tool that allows you to create a Reseller Level for your customers and assign them resources in various fashions. The design of this is very flexible allowing many different options on what you want Resellers to be able to have access to in terms of functionality and resources.

You are right this is not well documented, but many different hosting companies have business models built around the Reseller Functionality and have been using it quite extensively.

If you have other questions do not hesitate to let us know.

Em.. rackshack offer good price but remember
totally unmanaged server including

"software and hardware"

So you are not promised the box you will get is working...think about your 200 USD( setup +first month), you may want to leave in the first month , but if you are "lucky", you will be fine.

"Luck" is the most important thing you will need with rackshack.

also, if your hardware is broken, they will take 48 hours to swap ram "excluding long investigation time" and feel reluctant to swap HD but restore.

During this long "troubled time", everything like customers and money you lose is "your own business"

Bless to god before you buy it

I think you can get away with Rackshack support. However, you;ll need quite a lot of details on your side and tried every possible solution before approaching the ticketing support guy.

Then if he fails or responds miserably....the next thing to do is to find Patrick!!! I believe he's here in WHT as well.

As RS has stated that they are unmanaged dedicated server provider, you'll have to manage it yourself, and if everything else fails, try them for support.....

That's why most of us here will recommend not having a mission critical server with RS.....

Well considering im a newbie at this and just starting out with onhand experience with servers i dont have much know how on how to manage everything myself.. im looking for a company that can set me up and i wont have to worry about anything but administration,, with that in mind.. who's the closest to meeting that goal??

And to ap surge... if WHM is what i would be using and the reseller would be using CPanel,, what does the client of the reseller use cpanel as well?

Haha i like this one :-))

i'm whit rackshack since not too long then expect not having trouble :-)
Since now nothing to telll, But i still have almost no customer to the server at this time...

Be sure if run in trouble we try get patrick for sure :-))

Then btw for me all server are mission critical...:-) If your loose customer because of downtime then this is realy bad and not acceptable at all...

Any downtime is bad and should not append !
A downtime can destroy your buziness !

After rackshack swaped the HDD for me, I opened a ticket and it is still there now. Seems like the ticket is difficult to answer

" is the HDD a new one or used one?"?

ten minutes ago, I added

"did you really get into checking the quality of HDD like running badblocks test?? Or you just pick up a used one and pass it to me?"

again, "hardware" at rackshack is also not managed.
