Per month, it is $98, which comes to $1176 per year. Check out http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=63667 for some recent comments on Fastservers and our service!

I PM'd him a question, but no response yet (so I'm impatient). Maybe someone else knows. Is this offer only for annual payments of $1176 or will it be $98 monthly?

Thanks Randy. Seems like a hard way to get the setup fee waived :stickout

I agree. I think I would prefer to pay the setup myself.

What a dis-heartening thread.

I have always found that dealing with Marketing people for Hosting services is very stressful. Mostly because they seem to talk different English than I do. Fluff, is not the right stuff.

After just finishing discussions at WHT with another company, about possible misleading and/or confusing information (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?threadid=63768) and the difference between the Marketing and Sales dept., I now know of one person I wouldn't want to deal with -- Dave McAnall.

Free Dedicated Setup! Under $100!
- what part of "Free" don't you understand?

Statement: free setup with a one year contract!
Question: How much does it cost per month or per year?
Answer: Per month, it is $98, which comes to $1176 per year.
- wrong

Does not include or specify other options and available add-ons.

Made two posts on the one day and nine days later, has not been seen making another -- still not sure if he even replied to the PM he got. If the intent was to not follow this thread, why bother answering that one question?

I'm glad I had previously communicated with James Tillapaugh, because if this thread was my first introduction to Fastservers, I wouldn't even bother with them. I'd be too afraid everyone else had the same attitude as Dave McAnall. I know Marketing is an "Art" as well as a "Science", but Mr. McAnall, IMHO, is not doing Fastservers any favours.

Fortunately, James is astute, does not obfuscate what he says, more professional in his communication and seems to be, all-around on the ball. If there are more like James at Fastservers, things will be very good indeed.

Ahh, James, if you happen to read this and you are in the Marketing dept. (dont' recall you mentioning just what dept. you are in, actually) see if you can clone yourself and help out some of the others. :)

Goodness,

I'd like all of WHT to know that I have scolded David. Not really though. He's actually a wonderfully nice guy with remarkably good intentions. We're all exploring new ways to reach and satisfy new clients and that "infomercial" was the method David thought he would try. I assure you that there are no intensions here at Fastservers to use smoke, mirrors or anything hidden in our little WHT ads. I also wanted to say that I sent Rob a message thanking him for his words of wisdom. I love to hear feedback like that- it's far better than a marketing report! Perhaps you could post some suggestions for what Mr Mcanally can do to make it up to the WHT community. Say, outwardly pledging his love for Bon Jovi?

May I suggest that David, and all Marketing people actually, burn this into the brain:

The Art and Science of "Selling"
To discover, stimulate, and direct, a buying impulse.

As that lays down the groundwork for the Sales dept., what is Marketing to do? Establish a very easy path for potential clients to walk, and obtain a pre-conceived goal. And there's the key word, goal.

The job of Marketing is to instill enough "outside influence" to disrupt the inertia most of us feel, and to take action towards reaching the "goal" -- implied and stated truthfully, by Marketing. Clarity and simple terminology makes for a very easy path to follow. The better Marketing is at their job, the easier it is for people to walk the path, and the easier it is for Sales to complete the journey by establishing good business for all concerned.

Imagine - a very powerful word.
