2checkout is accepting Paypal payment now. This is a great things for those who don't have Paypal account as Paypal is not working in their country.

Now its possible to get Paypal payment with 2CO.

Quoting directory from 2CO website.
This will allow customers to pay for products and services with the funds in their PayPal account, even if the supplier does not have their own PayPal account and only uses 2Checkout.

The PayPal payment option will be available for all non-recurring orders ......
Well, I really hope they will consider accepting recurring payment with PayPal as well.

That sounds pretty good. I don't have a 2CO account though. Are you happy with their service? Any problems with it?

More payment options (for customers) is always better. This feature is particularly attractive to sellers from countries without full PayPal support.

It's good for everyone (PayPal, 2CO, customers, sellers).

What about the fees?

Fees are the same as far as I know.
5.5% + .45 per transaction.

Actually we use 2CO for our monthly recurring plans. I just tested it with one of our monthly plans and it gave me the option of using Paypal - I checked out using the Paypal Express option and then was redirected back to the 2CO checkout to review my order. It did specify that the order was to be billed monthly until cancelled.

I'm pretty sure with Paypal express checkouts though that recurring profiles aren't created. So basically it means that someone can pay for the first month and not be billed again? I checked our 2CO order and it did specify that a recurring bill had been setup. Not sure how 2CO are going to manage to bill my Paypal account though.

When someone pays you through 2CO, do they need a 2CO account? Or do they just enter their credit card details and the payment is processed?

They just enter their credit card details. There is no 2CheckOut account for buyers.

If I remember correctly, there are certain big merchants (godaddy.com is one of them) who can charge the buyer's Paypal account without any intervention on the part of buyer after the first purchase transaction is done. I no longer use godaddy but when I used to checkout on godaddy using Paypal, they had a special merchant agreement which the buyer's have to agree to in order to complete the purchase. May be 2CO is one of the trusted merchant.

I used to use 2co. i recommend stay far away from them.

Recurring had orders which marked as "active" in the database but not actually billing anything in months/years.

They always refund the buyer when they ask for any reason, they dont give you a choice.

Ouch.
That means, if you are considering to use 2CO for your hosting biz (esp. share hosting) where account setup is almost instant, it cant be a feasible solution.

Why not? I think that it is good deal.

As you said it takes them 3 business days to verify payments. So certainly you can't serve client instantly if you are not sure you have got the payment.

Reading the comments on their page,
I have 2 clients that paid on the 2nd of Nov. one paid with paypal ($350) and the other paid with Visa($880). The Visa payment is now showing up in our account as ready for payout this week while the paypal payment is nowhere to be found.
So they already took 4 days and still the payment is not there for PayPal method.

First time yes. And I'm sure that customers understand that. But next month this customer will mark as "trusted" and payment from him can be added for acoount imidiately. This is work.
This is safety. And customers as rule understand it.

Fees are the same as far as I know.
5.5% + .45 per transaction.

But you also have to pay a startup fee of 41-49$ or something like that. but after that they dont charge any annual or any other fees except the 5.5% and .45 per transaction

~ServerPoint~
11-08-2007, 04:25 AM
$49 as far as I remember.
By the way are there any additional fees to start accepting payments through paypal?

No additional options there. All the same. Your customer only see additional option that he can pay through payPal. :agree:

2checkout is the most trusted credit card processing system in the world.
I believe you can trust them.

trusting them is fine but do you have any idea that how much they charge per transaction and what is the maximum limit of transaction etc

Also I would like to know that if I use 2CO then do i have to pay any taxes as well ? Ofcourse I have to pay taxes according to local authorities but do I have to pay taxes for my merchant account in US or UK that I have opened with 2CO????

~ServerPoint~

Their fees quite high. Better to consider them as card processor. If you have Paypal you better use it for getting paypal payments.

5.5% + $0.45 for each transaction + $49 for sign up.

Its definately not a good news for merchants who are already offering paypal separately with 2checkout. Client selects 2CO because they dont want to use paypal, but on checkout page they are given a big "Pay by paypal" in comparison to itty bitty small checkout button which is more like hidden below paypal logo. Some less tech savvy clients drop the order in between because of confusion. There is also no option to disable or enable accepting paypal and everyone must accept it.
And clients who decide to pay by paypal after coming to checkout page results in high 2CO transanction fee for merchant instead of low paypal fees.

Yes its a nice feature but giving an option to enable it would have been better instead of forcing it to entire system.

I think that customers won't worry about that at all. If customer going to pay through 2CO (99% he would like to pay credit card) If customer has paypal he will pay through paypal. Only thing you need on the website - pave both methods separated.

Paypal EC payments seem to take ages processing into accounts at 2co. we had a payment sitting in approved, but pending status for over 14 days now. I really want to disable this Paypal EC in 2checkout.

~ServerPoint~
11-26-2007, 07:45 AM
I'm affraid you won't be able to do that from your 2CO account. Your customer chose how he would like to pay you with paypal or with credit card.
Pending status do not depend on payment mathods. It might be due to the first time payment in this way.

Dont paypal do that? Check out horror stories of paypal. We have burnt our fingers many times with paypal. We dont use 2co so far, but are thinking of using same as we have been asked by many clients that they dont want to use paypal. For indians we offer many offline payment ways but for international we have to find some or other way. We also added moneybookers but no luck with same.

I never had any issues with neither paypal, nor 2co. There were times when we had to concede a few tiny disputes (basically frauds) with paypal. In 2co, there has been again very few disputes, and 2co acted fairly on them. We didnt lose any disputes while we had legitimate proof.
