View Full Version : Logo pricing
DoobyWho 08-02-2002, 12:54 PM I came across this today and thought about the thread i posted a few days ago about the price range differance in logos.
http://www.logo-mojo.com/html/pricing.html
Those are going from $500-900 or more. We've got "companies" here doing logos for $20. If you take a look at those 500-900$ logos you will see a differance in the quality of those that are only $20.
Ahmad 08-02-2002, 01:21 PM Everbody know that you get what you pay for. That doens't mean that nobody wants to pay 20$
What? 900$? Do you want companies that charge even more? I'm sure 900$ is really CHEAP to some companies.
May I say we've all had it with this discussion.
BTW, I've just taken a look at the URL you posted.
I'm really confused
Does anybody here think their designs are worth 25 - 45 times as much as a 20$ logo by the company he is referring to?
Andyc 08-02-2002, 01:25 PM I don't see a lot of difference. What do you have against the other person? He is not doing anything wrong in my book.
Gem Hexen 08-02-2002, 03:12 PM How are those more than text with a couple shapes?
tazd9t9 08-02-2002, 04:06 PM nice logos but hardly a lot of variety, ost have those curved bits on.
An for the love of god will you leave the $20 guy alone, hes using software to make logos, so what thats what the software was designed for, if you don't like it ignore him but stop going on about it, his 1 ad was turned into a 4 page slagging
SimonMc 08-02-2002, 04:24 PM Hello all.

Nike just has a tick..not even text. Just a tick...just a little old tick...but what a tick...what a fantastic tick. Billions went into that tick you know...absolutely billions.
At least you might recognise one of my logos again...you have seen them enough.

Simon, I reckon they're just envious that you can make a good living on what you do, because their "expertise" didn't get them that much "infront" (if infront at all) of you.
:)
Acroplex 08-03-2002, 04:26 AM G'day mate. :cartman:
21inchguns 08-03-2002, 09:37 AM if you want a real logo, it usually costs a lot of money.....As generally, the logo should be inline with organisational goals and marketing strategy....This requires the designers to actually research into the company.....I just did a site for a company, and they paid their designer about 5k for the logo.........
However, I have seen some good ones floating around for $20.......
Roy@ENHOST 08-03-2002, 04:02 PM I can do what logo-mojo did for $100.
Those in the $900 range are very typical corporate logos. Those ticks and spheres and gradients........:)

Then you should pay $900 for your logo and get it at the URL you posted. I don't see what the heck is the big deal.
As far as I'm concerned, pricing is one of the last things you need to worry about. If the logo looks good and you paid $900 for it and you're happy, then let's all be happy. If you paid $20 for it, and you're happy, then let's all be happy.
If there *isn't* a difference between a $900 logo and a $20 logo, then you'd have to be a blithering idiot to pay $900 for something you can get for $20, eh?

There seem to be a lot of "blithering idiots"
manticore 08-03-2002, 06:56 PM I like their logo's. They are very nice. I'd say well worth the money put into them.
BrianF 08-03-2002, 07:26 PM There is a difference:
Does the $20 guy come up with 10 variations of the logo?
Does the $20 guy have the logo in multiple formats including web ready and print ready?
Does the $20 guy think about the expense involved in printing a logo with more than two colors on stationary?
Does the $20 guy have it in vector format?
It goes on and on and on...I think I read some where that the Reebok logo was designed by a kid in a contest or something, and the kid whose design was chosen was $20 bucks.
So basically, if you like what you got for $20 bucks, then that's good! But if you're a huge company you'd want to spend the extra money.
I think the $20 logos are great for smaller companies that frequent this board and can't afford the $900 design.
Brian
DoobyWho 08-03-2002, 08:42 PM I agree brian.
Acroplex 08-03-2002, 08:45 PM *couch* Chicken, you forgot to delete one *cough* post *cough*

Smaller companies like Reebok? $20 logos are great for people who want a logo and want to only spend $20, regardless of how large or small the business.
Acroplex 08-03-2002, 11:07 PM Not sure about Reebok, I am an Adidas dude :D
BrianF 08-03-2002, 11:45 PM I never said that Reebok was a small company?
I was implying that there are instances where (large) companies have really cheap logos done for them.

Maybe that kid used Logo Creator :D
VoxKeysGtr 08-04-2002, 01:07 AM Man, I can't even afford $20 for a logo. That's almost 3 domains, right there. Sheesh...

At last! Timechange is now coming to the conclusion that it would be possible to design a logo like reebok using a versatile piece of software like "The Logo Creator". Don't forget the "THE" at the front because otherwise people might think you are ignorant and uninformed.
The logo creator software comes free with 2 sample logo templates. Why don't we hold a competition here on WHT...to see who can come up with the best looking Logo made with The Logo Creator. That will do 2 things as far as I am concerned. It will show everybody that joins in the competition what a great tool The Logo Creator is and also how flexible and powerful it can be in the right hands.
There is no cost in downloading the software so what have you got to lose. Let me know if you think this is a good idea or not. I am a firm believer in the addage "Don't knock it until you have tried it".
All excuses to not have a competition also respected.
Just a thought.

Acroplex 08-04-2002, 03:35 AM Don't be so lame. It's the 3rd thread already where you are pimping THE logo creator. It's an interesting piece of software for soccer moms to design graphics for their little girl's birthday party.
The Reebok logo is so simple that it could be made with anything.

Chicken will be upset that you are trying to live up to his name.

manticore 08-04-2002, 08:00 AM The Logo Creator is disgusting software. Its not meant to be used as professional software, one who calls themself a 'logo designer'. Its even stated in their little text:
Are you looking for a professional logo for your new business but don't want to pay hundreds, or even thousands, for a graphic designer?
Are you a web master who wants to provide professional logos to your customers?
Are you an entrepreneur who wants to make a living SELLING the logos you create with The Logo Creator?
Do you simply want to spruce up your current site with professional graphics?
Are you determined to get a professional logo but don't want the hassle?

I personally don't mind "The Logo Creator".
I had a fiddle with it a while back to see what I could come up with and was surprised. Although the logos don't match up to something created specifically for a company - they still look half decent.
--Shaun.
what's the bloody fuss? I've seen some $20 logos that make the $900 seems very unreasonable.
At the end of the day, Simon found a nice niche market for his services, if you can't compete in it - don't knock it, go find your own freakin market that will pay $900 for a logo (and see the competition that you'll be up against in that price margin).
Keep it up Simon (and ignore them, some of these ppl are probably feeling "ripped off" because they could have their logo "made" for $20 instead!)
Acroplex 08-05-2002, 12:23 AM Nice swoosh your logo, tn3 :D
FYI, timechange, I don't know Simon from a bar of soap and he did not design my logo.
The swoosh if you look at the logo in it's entirety (ie, with the 3 nav bars on the bottom left, plus the "swoosh") is an abstract of a "Black Swan" which is the emblim and is on the "coat of arms" (hell, it's even on the flag!) of my city, but you don't know that (do you know what a swan lookg like?). Attached is a pic.
Everyone is a critic these days.

QuantumK 08-09-2002, 03:30 PM I'm kind of in search for a good decent logo. Any of you guys have a website where I can check out your prices??? I definitely don't want to spend over $50, so I know that greatly decreases the possibilities. Nevertheless, if any of you guys have or know of a logo designer that creates them for this cheap, PM me.
QuantumK
<<MOD NOTE: You will have to ask this in the Related Offers and Request Forum if you'd like designers to reply directly to the thread.>>
DoobyWho 08-09-2002, 03:34 PM check out a user of the software "The Logo Creator" , his name on here is SimonMC. He will create a totally unique logo for you for $20 :stickout
