View Full Version : Hostgator now offering free WHMCS
plainwords 10-31-2007, 02:40 AM This may be old news but I've just discovered Hostgator is now offering all resellers a free licence for WHMCS.
Hostgator used to offer the horrible WHMautopilot, but with WHMCS, they have come right back as number one reseller in my book.
RackZen 10-31-2007, 02:48 AM Wow... very nice offer.
HW-David 10-31-2007, 03:03 AM Thats pretty cool... If I were on a reseller i'd totally switch. WHMCS alone is like $15 /month.
Clayton 10-31-2007, 03:38 AM That's not a bad move on their part ;)

Agree, lol !
GPearce 10-31-2007, 06:13 AM Agree, lol !
+1
Although, a free WHMCS license wouldn't make me go to them, i've heard some pretty bad things about them :S
iHubNet-Matt 10-31-2007, 10:48 AM Personally, I too prefer the WHMCS for billing. I am really comfortable with that, may be because I have not used others much.
And I guess most hosts that offer free billing system are providing WHMCS now. Happened to nitice more than a couple.
PogiWeb 10-31-2007, 04:59 PM Wow, I think thats a pretty big step for Hostgator.
TPHosting 10-31-2007, 05:25 PM Definitely a step in the right direction
HolySpirit 10-31-2007, 07:22 PM hello, have you asked them?
recently (less than 1week) i asked if they offer free whmcs billing system and they left me with a message that is looking for the information and didn't answered... terrible minutes waiting i went to sleep in my bed..
if the information is true it's good for me that almost bought a whmcs mensal license
JohnJ 10-31-2007, 07:29 PM HostGator now has my heart <3
Energizer Bunny 10-31-2007, 07:30 PM Wow, I think thats a pretty big step for Hostgator.
Yup so whats next the free gator moped :D
Nnyan 10-31-2007, 07:38 PM Any added features this nice is a good thing! I'm not sure this alone makes Hostgator the number one reseller for me but it's good news.
Annex 10-31-2007, 08:19 PM Yup so whats next the free gator moped :D
If they gave gator mopeds to their customers I would buy for a month to get the moped!
ldcdc 11-01-2007, 09:12 AM In a crowded market, every little bit of differentiation helps.
The talk that the move generates (like this thread) is worth a few $$ in free advertising too. :)

Haa it does not create threads if some small time company offers the same however.
Cheers
ldcdc 11-01-2007, 11:42 AM Haa it does not create threads if some small time company offers the same however. True. It's the newsworthy bit at play, and a card worth playing by the bigger companies (and they do play it).
An old lady from who knows where, suffering of terminal cancer, won't get anywhere near as much news coverage as a movie star or widely known singer suffering from an incipient, quite curable form of cancer. It's just the way things are.

LOL, that is very true! Good analogy! ;)
HolySpirit 11-01-2007, 07:35 PM yep, i asked them in chat and they said its free with one time installation fee of US$25
PremiumHost 11-01-2007, 08:03 PM I don't know why people are so fancy with WHMCS.
I tried the demo a few months ago, nothing really catch my attention.
I tried again yesterday because i thought it must have been changed a lot, still not much different.
Admin backend is similar to whmautopilot v3 which is not very good/efficient for management.
The only good thing is that WHMCS has many features that anyone can use some of them to run their hosting business.
a1domainhosting 11-02-2007, 02:19 AM I dont prefer as i have said in many post that we should go for a company with their billing system. Assume you have to s/w you have to think 100times before you can s/w as you have to take dump etc etc of your billing system if possible.
Some companies don't give you access to database of the billing module which is given to you. in that case you are really stuck as you will need to take down each and every record manually and move to other billing system where you are moving.
So i don't see anything very good in same but i see a huge catch.
If i am serious to do my business i will prefer to pay $15 a month rather then going for a huge mess.
