View Full Version : RaQ4 vs RaQ550
Royong 08-02-2002, 06:14 AM Prices for both RaQ4 and RaQ550 vary quite greatly....
Is there a MAJOR difference between the 2 ? Other than from what is obvious like MySQL support, new kernel etc...
What would you buy ?
FiberOptic 08-02-2002, 06:49 AM RaQ 550 as new kernel
And price difference isn't worth to buy a RaQ4
Go for a 550!
Royong 08-02-2002, 11:01 AM Ok... now I know why you guys would go for a RaQ550 instead of the RaQ4... the price difference isn't that great ....
but for me in Singapore... its different...
Was quote by 2 suppliers - RaQ4i - on offer while stocks last - and I checked today, they still have stock - between S$1,399 to S$1,499 or between US$778 to US$833
<assuming US$1 = S$1.80>
and a RaQ550
base model - 1GB CPU 40MB HDD 256MB RAM - CBTR5DJ42VIM costs between S$2910 to S$3200 or between US$1617 to US$1778....
now taking the higher quotes ...
RaQ4i -> US$833
RaQ550 -> US$1617
which would you buy ???? almost a ratio of 2 to 1
2 RaQ4i for the price of 1 RaQ550 ! !
babak 08-02-2002, 11:19 AM hi
then I would chose for raq4.
raq550 is'nt better than 2 raq4.
you can do more whit 2 raq4 then only 1 raq550
Regards,
Babak
FiberOptic 08-02-2002, 11:37 AM You won't believe it...
But in Belgium are the prices really ....
- RaQ4i 256MB 20GB = 1803
- RaQ550 1GHz 256MB 40GB = 1763
Which one would you choose? ;)
babak 08-02-2002, 11:40 AM hi
Iam in Holland and we have the same prices. So I chose for raq550:D
Met vriendelijke groet.:D

Royong 08-02-2002, 11:41 AM Mmm... why are the prices so varied...

please post them here
babak 08-02-2002, 11:43 AM maybe you bye from a resseler!!!
Go to main dealer.
Regards,
babak
Royong 08-02-2002, 07:02 PM no ... my prices are from a local distributor !
FiberOptic 08-02-2002, 09:23 PM If that are the prices of servers at your country,
I wouldn't hesitate for a second...
And I think most of us either.
A RaQ550 isn't worth the DOUBLE price of a RaQ4.
So, go for a RaQ4.
If you really have too much load, you can still buy a second one, or a RaQ550 if they please you that much.
Starhost 08-02-2002, 09:49 PM Don't take a raq! Take a normal server and install a custom Control panel on it.If you though want a Raq go for the 550, because of the better hardware and the software development for 550 is still in process while the raq 4 is almost dead.
[IN DUTCH]
Tjemig, 'kom hier steeds meer NL'ers tegen. :D. Verder check www.webhostingtalk.nl (SPAM) onze eigen WHT community :).
cbtrussell 08-03-2002, 01:38 PM the raq 4 is almost dead. Whoops, better not tell my customers who continue to get pages served so fast they swear it's cached locally.
Let's face it, is the hardware out of date? Yeah, of course. Is it good enough, and do the job it was designed to do? Hell yeah, you'd better believe it.
my $0.02. :)

Starhost 08-03-2002, 02:05 PM Is does the job as long as it serves mostly Static pages. When clients are using PHP & SQL OR ASP. Your werver won't be running thatsmooth anylonger. Try it.......
