View Full Version : I'm so SORRY!!!
SoftWareRevue 08-02-2002, 05:05 AM I'm sorry; I don't think I heard you. :(
Something has been buggin' me for a few months now.
Well, something that hasn't been mentioned that is. Hasn't been mentioned until now. If I ever get around to mentioning it. Oh; I'm sure I will . . . . . . . . .
When I first came to this forum I had all the default settings.
That was fine for a while. But, then I became addicted. And everything changed.
Once I started averaging sixty emails a day from here (not to worry; I let it go on until I was relatively certain it wasn't gonna stop) I decided the only thing I could do was to turn email notification off.
Fair enough you say.
The only problem with that is, we often talk to one another within threads. I do the same thing. But, I am often worried that someone will ask me a question and then be mad because I wouldn't respond; when I never heard the question.
So, in summary, if you have addressed me from within a thread I have posted in during the past year and I have not responded, it's because I didn't hear you.
Speak up next time!! :D
Okay; now that that's done . . . . . whoops . . . scuse me. . . .
Okay; I'm back. Had to go downstairs and check the box beside Email Notification for this thread, lest I forget.
Who else has Email Notification turned off by default?
It would be good to know. Because I may ask you a question within a thread and be disturbed because you didn't respond.
Yeh. It's wee hours in the morning here. And I'm just a little loopy.

Ahmad 08-02-2002, 05:49 AM Hello SWR,
I've had the same problem in many other boards before. Hopefully, everbody will understand and if it's important, they will PM you, if it is not, they will probably forget it themselves :D
But! be careful not to reply to a thread where somebody addressed a question to you, and you didn't see it because you didn't read the replies carefully.

Andyc 08-02-2002, 07:20 AM I have it turned off. I do have a good habit of reviewing all the threads I posted in so I don't think I would miss someone asking me a question.

Andrew That's easy for 'you' to say. :stickout
Phrozen 08-02-2002, 08:32 AM I always have it turned off. It's just a habit of mine at every forum I visit. Of course with my post count here it wouldn't make much difference, but with my some 5500 posts at FWS I'd hate to get that many email notifications.
I don't really worry about missing a question that someone asks me; if it was important enough, they'd send me a PM, like they have before.
projo 08-02-2002, 09:34 AM I sometimes search on my on name and threads that are recently active are on top.

My that was wordy.
Good thing nobody misses me that much, where they would notice if I did not reply to their reply in a thread.
cyansmoker 08-02-2002, 03:57 PM I have email notification on;
however, I also have a rule in my email client that files these notifications in a "WHT" folder.
Each time I feel that I have enough time on my hands to reply to these posts, I open this folder, sort these messages, click on the link for one in each category, then delete all these emails.
michaeln 08-03-2002, 12:23 AM I never had email notification turned on.... I get enough emails from people wanting me to sign up for a new home loan or staple panplets together to mail out...
Then again I always forget which threads I posted in..
Regards
