Just don't register with Network Solutions, anything else would be great :)

you can get a full list of domain registrars here http://www.internic.net/origin.html
There are also a number of enom and opensrs resellers that offer good value and service.
I would not pay more than US$15 for a domain name.
The procedure for changing your nameservers will vary depending on where you chose to register your domain name, once you make your choice, the company should provide good instructions on how to do this.
timechange offers very good advice, stay away from network solutions/verisign!

Actually, if you're looking to get your domain hosted somewhere, your host will probably be able to register the domain for you as well, and that's probably the easiest way to go around.

There are plenty of hosts on this forum, so perhaps you should post your request on what you need in the advertisement forums, and you'll probably get some interesting offers, which might include the domain name :)

Good luck, though.

I'm also brand new.
I used Namecheap for registration, just 8.88 per year,
and Dixiesys.com for hosting. So far, so good!!

i agree, try to find a host that also offers low cost domain registration (less than $15/year). some hosts will even pay for your domain each year as long as you host with them (;) )

also avoid s-t-a-r-g-a-t-e.com .. if you do you get those kinda error messages when you log on:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'

[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][TCP/IP Sockets]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.

/pages/detailtemp3.asp, line 465
also you can wait for days to get an answer from the support :(

delpino,

This is not a reply to the original question, and I find it terrible if people like you attack any company without them being able to defend themselves.

I agree, there might be a problem with many hosting companies. However, this is not the place to post your grieves regarding this host, as this is definitely off topic.

Where is the reader's guarantee that the error is not caused by yourself? How long have you been a customer with them? I don't know ********.com, but do believe that no matter how bad they are - you should not start spamming these forums to give them a bad name; start your own thread on this in the correct forum if you feel the need to, but this thread is obviously NOT about ********.com.

that's just my opinion, but I'm sure that many people will agree on what I'm trying to point out here.

Thanks - David.

how can it be my mistake if i log into my account.. there's nothing i can do wrong.. and they can defend themselves here.. many host / domain companies read WHT and they just do that. and i think its important to warn people of companies which have problems.. and if you have noticed somebody in this threads warns of Netsol..
