Hello. On one of my computers, I have a problem with the floppy drive. I cannot format disks, and I have troubles reading some disks (new, old, or preformatted). This computer has Win 98 2nd.

If I take the disk and look at it on another computer and then return it back to the affected machine, I have a 50/50 chance in getting this machine to read it.

Initially, I thought it was Win 98, but I have reinstalled it back to manufacturer configuration/installation. However, this did nothing.

Then I took the machine to IBM for inspections. I told them that I may have a problem with the boot sector. According to the repair summary sheet, they replaced the floppy drive. They did a lot of things that I didn't ask, which was great, but my floppy drive problem is still there.

Next, I thought my problem have to do with the disk partitioning type, but it's standard FAT.

So, what should I do? I rarely use the floppy drive, but it's essential if I wish to create recovery disks/CDs for this machine.

Thanks in advance.
