I'm a nature photographer just completing my Web Site. a POOR photographer - at least until i am "discovered" ! Can some of you knowledgeable people please recommend a web host for about 8-$10/month max? I don't expect hundreds of visits a month at this point, have about 100 pictures available to review and purchase, (thumnails opening to full-size), a few gifs, and probably music. i have no idea what i need as far as "size" or " ammenities" and don't even understand what most of the things available are. Thanx to anyone who can help - Sandy

All you need for 100 100k pics and a nice page with maybe a few sounds ......

say a 50/100mb account with 2 to 5gig transfer for 5 to 12 bucks.

Don't be fooled by the Unlimited Space or Transfer host...

Most host will let you upgrade to another package if you out grow the current one...

Hope this helps....

I just signed up with InfoDoma.com and they have small plans for about $3 a month up to customplans and such. I've asked them about music, and as long as it isn't pirated it's no problem, so I'm going to start streaming my work as soon as I've made the html.

It would be great if you mentioned my name, when (if) you sign up.:)

They are very nice to deal with, has a great forum and fast support.

Sandy,

I run a site that has hundreds of pictures along with an active forum and would suggest that you consider Myacen.com (http://www.myacen.com/virtualhosting.html) to host your site.

They have a decent plan that should fit your requirements nicely for $5.95 per month. It's the "Homstead" plan.

I am not currently a client of theirs but may be opening an account with them shortly. Drop in on their forums and you'll get an idea what support is like and so forth. Good luck!

MY host released new plans that can be seen here: www.brightlightwebsites.com/services.html
$3.75 for 5GB bandwidth and 75MB space. I think it is a great deal.

I recommend you look at www.hostworkz.com. I'm currently with them and overall I have been extremely impressed with them!

Maybe this thread would be more suitable in the Web Hosting Requests forum.
