We are planning to build a really fast server for colo.

Dual AMD Athlon MP 1800+
1.5GB DDR RAM
2 80GB IDE 8MB Cache with Raid 0 - 3ware Controller.

How much GB / month do you think this baby can pull?

Will be used for shared accounts of course. Maybe a total of 50 people browsing mysql forums at any given moment.


EDIT: Also how much bandwidth do you think the above configuration can pull?

That server you just posted should to ALOT more than 50 php/mysql forums viewers online at once.

not sure about bandwidth all depends on the type of sites your customers are running.

It really depends what the shared web hosting accounts are used for... if it's all static websites, or if it's database intensive hosting. There's no real answer, you would only know the real answer by putting the clients on there and just add more clients until you see that the server's load average is acceptable and also that there's plenty of room on the server for the client's to expand.

Ok well we have an Duron 1Ghz 1GB Ram that can pull about 250GB Transfer / month. Assuming that they both have the same type of sites, how much do you think my above configuration can pull?

If you get some big-traffic sites on there, I don't think you'd have any problem pulling 300 a month, possibly more.
