Hi Everyone,

(I have performed a few searches seeking the answers to a few of my questions, but, didn't find exactly what I was looking for.)

I own/operate a small web host, and have been doing so for a few years. We have had quite a bit of local success, and have grown to the point in which we populate a number or servers. However, we still offer only basic services to our clients.

We would like to offer clients the ability to register new domains at purchase, as well as to be able to present clients with the ability to register domains as they please.

I have been looking specifically at openSRS (tucows) - mainly because of their excellent API and support - however I am still undecided. To other web hosts out there: What registrar do you use, and what kind of costs are associated with your respective registrar? Start-up fees? Anything else?

Thanks,
Evan

I recommend DomainSmarty. It is run by MrZippy here on the forums. He provides you with a Enom reseller account. DomainSmarty's customer service is top notch, and you get the benefit of an Enom reseller account!

From what I am reading it seems advisable to use a seperate registrar and DNS service from your hosting service. Other than transfering hosting providers what else would be a benefit? Do you have to transfer them yourself o call them to do it?

That's def. the easiest, and cheapest solution.

From what I have gathered from eNom, $100 one time set-up, after that markup and sell?

Our registrar is Directi(resellerclub.com). We can register domains for $6.99. They provide an API and most hosting billing softwares support it.

I would go with Enom and for your hosting / Domain API, I would also recommend AWBS. Great solution and saves much time.
